Résumé : |
In the second part of their article, the author examine advanced pigment technologies for pearlescents as well as multicolour pigments.
Effect pigments have many applications. Having become established in high performance areas such as automotive finishes, they are now finding their way into other areas, too. Examples include powder coatings for equipment, as well as the construction industry. Interior designers are increasingly turning to pearlescent pigments to create innovative effects using established artistic techniques. Important applications for gold-coloured pearlescent pigments in particular are to be found in the leather industry, where they are playing a major role in the colour styling of handbags and shoes. In sports articles, too, effect finishes convey dynamism and fast response. Other innovative applications include paints for bicycles and skate-boards. Plastic finishes in an area that is becoming increasingly important. In addition to components for the automotive industry, mobile phones and other items of everyday use are being launched with effect finishes. There is hardly an industry that can nowadays afford not to use colour effects to position its products in the market. Effect pigments represents a fascinating area characterised by the rapid development of new products. The possibilities are far from being exhausted, as most recent developments show. They will impact in a major way on the colours of the new millennium. Be prepared to experience new optical effects. |
