Résumé : |
The need to meet a raft of European legislation has fuelled a surge in demand for aqueous flexo printed paper and packaging materials which comply, writes by the author.
With consumers becoming increasingly environmentally aware and legislation becoming ever more stringent, the envirobment is slowly creeping up the business agenda. Europe is leading the way and setting a benchmark for the rest of the world, having serious implications for the majority of companies within the region. The inks market is no exception to this with regulations on health, safety and the environment becoming increasingly strict. This is with particular reference to legislation restricting Volative Organic Content (VOC) emissions to the atmosphere and the restriction of heavy metals content of coloured or printed packaging (CONEG regulations and European Directive 94/62/EC 1994). The need for ink markers to use colourants that meet these purity requirements has fuelled a surge in demand for aqueous flexo printed paper and packaging materials which comply. Artizan AF is a range of a high strength, ultramarine dispersions that have been developed specifically to cope with the high demands of the printing industry and are aimed directly at the aqueous flexographic ink market. The range consists of two products, Artizan AF-S, surfactant based allowing freedom of formulation and wide compatibility, and Artizan AF-R, acrylic resin based making it easy to incorporate and excellent to transfer. Table 1 shows the main differences between the two dispersions. |
