Résumé : |
This paper looks at innovations proposed by Eliokem to produce high quality, VOC compliant, waterborne stain-blocking paints and primers.
Stain blocking properties are linked to the ability of the paint film to inhibit the migration of a wide range of coloured components of different chemical types. This work has demonstrated that paints formulated with the innovative EBS for interior are able to achieve very good stain blocking properties on anionic or cationic hydrophilic stains as well as on lipohilic stains.
In addition, the unique film formation mechanism of EBS technology results in very good penetration power, and thus long lasting adhesion to porous substrates.
The solvent of the emulsion has been selected to limit the migration of lipophilic stains and its quantity has been adjusted to lower the viscosity of particules without compromising compliance with the Decopaint VOC Directive.
As the film formation of EBS for interior occurs by simple solvent evaporation, paints formulated with this binder are tension free and can consequently be used on low cohesion surfaces. The solvent is located inside the particules, resulting in secured film formation even in high relative humidity conditions.
These properties fulfill the requirements for high performance stain blocking paints to be used for new construction as well as refurbishment and the new emulsion provides a technological advance because it overcomes the main weaknesses of waterborne technologies available today on the market. |
