Composites à fibres de carbone
ThermogravimétrieIndex. décimale : 620.11 Matériaux (propriétés, résistance) Résumé : Carbon fiber-reinforced plastics (CFRPs) are lighter than aluminum and stiffer than titanium. Due to these exceptional properties, carbon fiber-reinforced polymers are of common interest, especially in the transportation industry and manufacturing of sports goods. Some typical application areas here include aerospace engineering, the automotive industry, motor sports and cycle racing. Additionally, they are corrosion-resistant and can therefore also be exposed to harsh environments. They can also be found in the industrial sector as components for robot arms or pumps, for example.
CFRPs consist of a polymer matrix, usually a resin such as epoxy, and embedded reinforcing carbon fibers. Depending on the matrix material, the layout of the reinforcement and its proportion relative to the polymer, the physicochemical and mechanical properties of the composites can vary. For characterization of these properties, it is advantageous to have analysis techniques at hand. Thermal Analysis provides a variety of analytical methods which can be of service. In particular, Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Dielectric Analysis (DEA), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Thermomechanical Analysis (TMA), Dynamic-Mechanical Analysis (DMA) and Laser Flash Analysis (LFA) are ideal tools for investigating the curing behavior of the resin matrix or studying the entire composite.
This technical article gives an overview of the measurement techniques mentioned and describes how Thermal Analysis can help master tasks in research, development, quality control or failure analysis.Note de contenu : - CURE MONITORING OF THE POLYMER MATRIX : DSC and DEA - Methods and instrumentation - Predicting the degree of conversion of reactive systems - Controlling the manufacturing process

ThermogravimétrieIndex. décimale : 668.4 Plastiques, vinyles Résumé : Wood plastic composites, also called wood polymer compounds, consist of wood, polymers and additives. These compounds have gained increasing acceptance over the past years. While currently they are mainly used in non-structural components such as decking or automotive interior elements, other applications fields including furniture, technical parts or consumer goods are becoming increasingly interesting. Thermal analysis methods such as thermogravimetry (TGA), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and dilatometry (DIL) are very helpful in characterising the properties of WPC materials.
