Résumé : |
lnnovative renewable resins with 100% solids have been developed, containing 80% and 100% bio-based materials respectively and no emulsifiers.
Both resins have been successfully used as sole binders in decorative paints. A 55% PVC white paint formulation was used to assess the resins' behaviour in moderately high binder content coatings. Paint properties were generally in agreement with standard Vam/VeoVa and acrylic latex binders for interior applications, white for exterior applications further improvements are still needed.
A specific interior matte paint formulation was developed to meet the European Ecolabel criteria. In addition to a high quality acrylic latex, both renewable resins were able to produce paints whose properties are in compliance with Ecolabel parameters.
The presented resins are, thus, excellent choices to increase the bio-based content of a decorative paint.
Further characterisation is being carried out and different formulations are being tested in order to explore the possibilities of these novel renewable resins. |
