Recently, inorganic-organic hybrid coatings produced by the sol-gel route have proven to be a potential protective treatment. Sol-gel process is one of the simplest techniques to prepare thin films. The quality of the prepared films depends on the parameters of the sol-gel process and the used technique. A variety of the sol-gel derived coating has been prepared for different applications. Comprehensive review papers have been made regularly in the past three decades by outstanding scientists such as Makaenzie, Sakka, Zarzycki, Schmidt, Uhlmann, Livage, Ulrich, Brinker, etc. Here we are presenting a review on the sol gel derived coatings. The description of the process is introduced in details. Different sol-gel deposition techniques are mentioned. |
