[article]
Titre : Limewash : water vapour permeability testing Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : J. Boxall, Auteur ; P. M. Trotman, Auteur Année de publication : 1996 Article en page(s) : p. 128-129 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : Chaux 'Dispersion aqueuse' 'Peinture émulsion' 'Propriété physique' 'Perméabilité vapeur eau' 'Etude comparative' Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The use of limewash to colour and maintain lime plasters and renders has been practiced for many centuries, and the use of these relatively simple finishes is still appropriate on many historic buildings. Probably the most important advantage claimed for limewash in such applications is the ability of the applied coating to alow aged building fabrics to "breathe" absorbed moisture, thus minimising damage due to water entrapment. However notwithstanding the perceived value of "breating" properties there is very little published information on the water vapour transmission of limewash to enable users to make an informed choice on product selection.
In response to this need, the Building Research Establishement has developed a test method for determining the permeability characteristics of limewashes. This test is based on a standard dish' technique widely used for measuring the moisture permeability of modern polymeric surface coatings. With some modification, the test has been found to be suitable for measuring the permeability of different types of limewash.Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=17029
