This article provides a general overview on the emulsion polymers, techniques to prepare and their end applications. An introduction to the basic concepts of emulsion polymers was discussed, followed by a description of the various production processes and characterization methods. The classes of emulsion polymers were surveyed, and the commercial technologies and potential future uses discussed. The main objective of this review article is to describe the use of latex coatings and their futuristic technologies for the development of next generation waterbased coatings. UV curing technology also plays a major rote in the consumer electronics industry. For instance, in the case of tell phones, UV technology is used in the coating of plastic housings, coatings to protect internal electronics, UV adhesive bonded components and even in the production of the colour screens found on some phones. Similarly, the optical fiber and DVD/CD industries use UV coatings and adhesives exclusively. Recent developments of new UV curable resins, which meet the high demands of automotive applications, in combination with a new lamp technology offer extremely fast drying of paints. Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Acrylic emulsion artists' paints were received with much fanfare and excitement in the 1950s and 1960s. They embodied the characteristics that many artists had been searching for at that time, affording a means of expression that was distinct from oi I painting and its associated history and traditions. As described it, 'there was an urge to loosen painting. [These colours] released new kinds of tactile qualities'. These synthetic paints produced films of great clarity and phenomenal elasticity, were easy to manipulate, could be painted directly onto supports, dried quickly, were thinned with water and exhibited high resistance to ultraviolet degradation. It was changed to acrylics for a number of reasons. They dry faster, which they do, and that they retain their original colour, which they do.The durability and light and the fact that one can use water instead of turpentine : all that makes it easier given the abstract image. As painting needed less and less drying time, depth, and so forth, the materials came along that made that more obvious. In spite of their outstanding mechanical and aging properties, acrylic emulsion paintings do suffer damage, often through external influences. Within the conservation profession, concerns were soon raised as some of these newly painted works began to require cleaning and repair. Revêtements en bâtimentIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Waterproofing is done on a building or any other infrastructure to prevent water from entering the structure and causing damage. il creates an impervious barrier protecting the structure from water seepage and leakages during weather conditions like vains. By making the surfaces of the building waterproof, like roofs, watts, foundation surfaces and other parts integral in maintaining the structural integrity of the building, the process prevents buildings from water damage and increases their life. Waterproofing also ensures that the structure is protected from any chemical damage and corrosion. Note de contenu : - Regulations
