Résumé : |
This paper reviews the development of marine coating for prevention of fouling, paying particular attention to the case of antifouling paints. After locating these paints in the anticorrosive protection system used on the parts of ships, a summary is made of the types of antifouling products used through history up to the present time. This is complemented by today's importance of marine coating and polymers which is used in coating for marine application purposes. Consideration is also briefly made of the main basic mechanisms by which the different types of antifouling paints work as well as eco-friendly marine paints which is today's need of any coating industry. Finally modern approaches to environmental effective antifouling system and their performance are highlighted. |
