This review article focuses on the development of a coatings with improved dirt pickup resistance, with seems to be continues important goal in the coatings industry. The basic demand for this is due to the growth in "softer" elastomeric wall and roof coatings which demands low-VOC formulations and with traditional emulsions it results in tackier coatings due to reduced glass transition temperatures (Tgs). If we consider the current scenario of Asian continent, there are a huge number of high-rise commercial buildings constructions are planned, which is driving the need for coatings that are easier to clean and maintain.
Different processes of emulsion preparation such as post (room temperature) crosslinking and inorganic organic hybrid emulsion, which facilitate the cleaning of coating by water are been discussed. It also draws a brief idea on the possible applications of the same with different paint formulations.
This paper explains the terminology Dirt Pickup Resistance, laboratory test method to measure the same, newer challenges for Paint industry regarding DPUR & how the DPUR fora paint can be improved.Note de contenu : - Mechanism of dirt pickup on latex paint films

Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Epoxies have already been used for impregnation and coating of concrete parts since more than 40 years. To those of us who coat concrete floors, it is a well-known fact that blisters sometimes develop weeks or months after the coating has been successfully applied. The problem is most prevalent with coatings applied to on-grade concrete floor slabs, although it also can occur on elevated floor slabs. Coatings on concrete walls seldom fait by blistering, perhaps because of differences related to construction: walls are poured and cured in forms ; floor slabs are cast in place and exposed to the atmosphere during cure. Excessive water in concrete affects many Norming materials and leading to their early failure. In many cases the floorings are badly blistered, each blister containing an aqueous solution under compression.
There are many ways blisters are formed. The ideas presented in this article pertain principally, if not exclusively, to horizontal concrete slabs cured open to the air. The paper evaluates and discusses the findings on the site and in the laboratory, and tries to determine the causes of the blistering, and the ways to avoid it.Note de contenu : - Osmosis term

Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A variety of requirements are nowadays made of innovative binders. It almost goes without saying today that newly developed binders are environmentally compatible. This primarily means that the volatile organic solvent content should be as low as possible. In the last 25 years, the demand fora reduction in solvent levels has been one of the major driving forces behind innovation in the development of novel binders and has led to significant successes, including in the area of waterborne binders and in high sol ids.
However, there is also a need demand arising out of the necessity to meet the increasing cost pressure on the end user. This can be achieved by increasing the productivity in the application process, enabling overall costs to be reduced. Using conventional coating materials these cost-effective coating concepts can only be achieved to a limited extent, or not at all, in manyapplications.Note de contenu : - What is LEAP pasquick ?

We Indians love Diwali as the Festival of light, celebration of happiness and success. This season brings new high to festival hope, thus, making sure all Indians recognize this bright and full of light festival as India's most loved festival. Same probably turns our unique preference for Glossy finishes when it comes to decorating our beloved home and surroundings.
Glossy finish- it is the term used to describe the amount of visible light a paint film reflects. ... or can also be defined as pai nt that produces a smooth, shiny appearance on the surface of film.
Gloss finishes are available, in flat/matt, egg shell, semi-gloss and high gloss.
The gloss of paint films is classified according to the degree to which they exhibit specular reflection.Note de contenu : - How to formulate gloss/shine paints ? : Benefits of glossy paint

Capillaries draw water from the soifs beneath a building against the force of gravity leading to damp zones at the base of walls.
The study revealed that failure to use damp-proof membrane or course, presence of groundwater, porosity of masonry, and concrete element sand flooding were the main causes of rising dampness. Undersetting and saw slotting, making good plumbing leakages, using approved waterproof chemical injection, and application of admixtures were the main measures recommended to aven rising dampness.Note de contenu : - Damp proof course treatment : Concept of damp proofing - Causes of dampness in buildings - : 1.
