The UV-LED technology provides a number of great advantages, such as energy savings, long lifetime, low heat, no ozone and no mercury. With LED technology, we rely on thousands of small LEDs to sufficiently cure our coating. What if there is a deviation along the width of the lamp? If a segment goes out, if some of the optics gets damaged or dirty, how does this impact the curing and the final properties? See Figures 1 and 2.
This study aims to determine what level of deviation causes problems with insufficient cure. To prevent problems with insufficient cure, Efsen has developed a proprietary technology, to continuously monitor the output of an UV lamp during production. Not only does this show us the complete picture of the UV output along the width of the lamp, it is also able to use the extracted information to adjust the power level of any segments that do not conform to the specification. This will provide an assurance, in real time, that all segments perform according to the specifications and also lets you know directly when there is damage, dirt or other issues preventing a segment to perform to standard.Note de contenu : - What is the required illumination to sufficiently cure the reactive material ?

Polymères aliphatiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Ultra Violet (UV) energy curing is one of the fastest crosslinking techniques used to dry coatings. UV curable coatings are also one of the most environmentally friendly coating systems as they are typically solvent-free (extremely low VOC/HAPS). Oligomers being almost 100% solids (ppm level solvent residues) have low to medium average molecular weights. Hence, they are liquid at room temperatures. Some oligomers contain some monomers to help reduce their viscosity, to make it easy for the formulator to handle them. However, some industry players do not believe UV curing is really a good solution for outdoor durable coatings. Hence, Miwon Specialty Chemical Co Ltd (MSC) decided to study the performance of some its aliphatic urethane acrylates under accelerated conditions to determine their durability. This paper discusses the tests and the performance that can be achieved when certain well-designed oligomers are exposed to harsh conditions. Note de contenu : - UV curing

Powder coatings are an environmentally friendly way to apply coatings to a wide range of substrates for a number of uses. One of the most demanding applications is for building materials in aggressive environments. All the variables that lead to degradation of coatings - heat, ultraviolet (UV) light, moisture, oxidation agents and chemicals along with simple physical abuse - are present. For these applications, the highest performance components have to be used, if specifications, such as those prescribed by American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) 2605 are to be met. Part of the equation is the resin used while the other is the colourant.Note de contenu : Table 1 : QUV-A Testing

Traîtements de surfaceIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : When case-hardening the surface of steel, or steel alloy parts, commonly used in the transportation industry, such as gears, crank pins, dies and camshafts, the options have traditionally included one-of-three processes: carburising, salt-bath nitrocarburising and gas nitriding. Each process has advantages and disadvantages, but those seeking more precise control of the diffusion layer formation, depth of case hardening and preservation of component dimensions, are increasingly turning to advanced pulse plasma nitriding.
Although pulse plasma has been utilised for decades, superior controls for the DC pulsing signal, along with improved chamber design and construction allow for more precise temperature control and uniform distribution of the heat zone throughout the hot-wall chamber. The result is extremely consistent and uniform nitriding batch-to-batch, with less gas consumption.
"The benefits are more precise control of the diffusion layers and its broader appeal to heat treat more diverse materials, beyond steel, that include titanium, stainless steel and even aluminium," says Thomas Palamides, Senior Product and Sales Manager at PVA TePla America.
In addition, commercial heat treat shops and high-volume part producers can now select from multiple system configurations that offer flexibility, efficiency, repeatability and throughput optimisation. As a result, global manufacturers in machined parts, tool design, die forming, die cutting, medical device manufacturing, additive manufacturing, electric vehicles, trains, electric generators and land-based power systems are now leveraging these systems to run a cleaner, more efficient operation.

Résistance thermiqueIndex. décimale : 668.3 Adhésifs et produits semblables Résumé : SMP (silyl-modified-polymer) Sealants, also called Hybrid Polymer Sealants, are the fastest growing technology for building and construction. They offer a wide range of physical properties versus other chemistries, eg silicones and polyurethanes, and feature increased elongation at break, improved adhesion on many substrates, re-paintability, better flexibility and higher durability.
Currently, the light and heat stabilisation solutions that are available on the market, designed to prolong the service life of SMP sealants, have some disadvantages for SMP sealant formulators. First, for those based on benzotriazole chemistry for the UV absorber component, they tend to yellow on extrusion. Second, they show early surface cracking and polymer break down. Finally, in most cases, the light stabilisers are labelled due to their hazardous composition.
The target for improvement was to address these three critical pillars, without compromising the technical advantages of SMP sealants regarding their mechanical properties.Note de contenu : - Heat stability

Tension superficielleIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : We introduces two additives based on ethoxylated silicone polymers.
I its range of products, Siliconi Commerciale SpA includes modifiers, such as Siltop 715, an additive with substrate wetting properties and Siltop 750, a surface levelling agent with rather good slipping properties.
Both additives are based on ethoxylated silicone polymers.
The chemical composition is very important as it determines its characteristics and properties ; the polyether part serves to give the polymer the right/expected compatibility in the coating systems and with the organic polymers, which they consist of, while the silicone chain guarantees the strong surface activity and determines the specific properties of the polymer, substrate wetting or levelling agent.
Surface tension modifying additives are often useful and, in some cases, fundamental so that a coating system, especially water-based ones, can wet and therefore cover homogeneously and uniformly the surface to be painted and to ensure that the appearance of the dry paint film has the desired characteristics of brilliance and uniformity of colour or opacity.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hEaweh8UZVddXf3RHp8mX5kBMHeF20BZ/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=36745
