This approach aims at determining the optimal thickness distribution for a certain blow molded product as a function of its geometry. Multiobjective search is performed by neuroevolution to reflect the conflicting nature of the design problem and to capture some possible trade-offs. During the search, each design alternative is evaluated through a finite element analysis. The coordinates of the mesh elements are the inputs to an artificial neural network whose output determines the thickness for the corresponding location. The proposed approach is applied to the design of an industrial bottle. The results reveal the validity and usefulness of the proposed technique, which was able to distribute the material along the most critical regions to obtain adequate mechanical properties. The approach is general and can be applied to products with different geometries. Substances dangereuses -- Evaluation du risqueIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : This paper describes a small part of the history of toxicology, its development during the last centuries and the opportunity that the scientific community has to acknowledge the establishment of a new specialty in toxicology capable of interacting with and contributing to cosmetology. ith emphasis on the safety assessment of cosmetic ingredients, especially the 26th IFSCC Congres/2010 - when the scientific community came together to discuss technical scientific and regulatory aspects of cosmetic science - offered this opportunity. The main purpose of this paper is to present in a short space of time the newest research field associating toxicological science and the safety assessment of cosmetic ingredients, which could pull together all research fields of cosmetics and toxicology.
