Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A semi-continuous seeded emulsion polymerisation method was used to prepare an aqueous acrylate emulsion with MMA and BA as the main monomers and EGDMA as the cross-linking monomer. Silicon monomer VTES and fluoromonomer DFMA were added to optimise the acrylate emulsion. The experimental results show that after adding the cross-linking agent, the compactness of the latex film is improved, the water absorption rate is greatly reduced, and the thermal decomposition temperature is increased by 12.32°C. It shows that the heat resistance and water resistance of the latex film of the prepared emulsion are improved. After adding silicon monomer and fluorine monomer, the water resistance of the latex film is greatly improved. In particular, the surface of the fluorine-containing latex film exhibits hydrophobicity. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENT : Materials - Preparation of luorinated acrylate latex

Vernis en phase aqueuse -- AdditifsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Dispersion-based coats are becoming increasingly popular as efficient, versatile and environmentally friendly coating materials with low VOC emissions. A new slurry-based matting agent opens up possibilities to withstand and overcome existing drawbacks of classical powder-based silica matting agents, particularly in clear coatings for wood.
The process of matting dispersion-based clear coatings while still maintaining both excellent film appearance and excellent resistance properties is sometimes difficult, especially when using binder emulsions with a higher minimum film formation temperature and glass transition temperature. Furthermore, when it cornes to dealing with traditional matting agents, there are significant disadvantages presented by their form, which are mostly powder-based.Note de contenu : - Formulation variations and test design

VernisIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Transparent coating could be painted onto plexiglass barriers and face shields, accordig to Northwestern University researchers who have developed a new transparent material that can capture droplets and aerosols.
Although plexiglass barriers are seemingly everywhere these days — between grocery store lanes, around restaurant tables and towering above office cubicles — they are an imperfect solution to blocking virus transmission.
Instead of capturing virus-laden respiratory droplets and aerosols, plexiglass dividers merely deflect droplets, causing them to bounce away but remain in the air. To enhance the function of these protective barriers, researchers from Northwestern University in Illinois in the US, have developed a new transparent material that can capture droplets and aerosols, effectively removing them from air.
The material is a clear, viscous liquid that can be painted onto any surface, including plastic, glass, wood, metal, stainless steel, concrete and textiles. When droplets collide with the coated surface, they stick to it, get absorbed and dry up. The coating is also compatible with antiviral and antimicrobial materials, so sanitising agents, such as copper, could be added to the formula.Note de contenu : - Fig.1 : An illustration of a common scenario of respiratory aerosols generated in a workspace, as wett as environmentat surfaces that could be suitable to transform into functional, droplet-capturing surfaces.

Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The global demand for waterborne (WB) industrial coatings continues to increase to meet more and more stringent VOC legislation and heightened awareness of environmental stewardship. Because of their lower environmental footprint, waterborne epoxy resins, acrylic polyol (APO) dispersions, and hydroxyl-functional (OH-functional) emulsions are gaining market share in high-performance two-component (2K) industrial coating applications. While waterborne epoxy resins are cured with a variety of amines, APOs and OH-functional emulsions are crosslinked with diverse WB isocyanates. Compared to APO dispersions, OH-functional acrylic emulsions offer lower cost and an easier production route, in addition to faster drying and property development. OH-functional acrylic emulsions can be designed with a wide range of hydroxyl values and performance characteristics to address the needs of many different applications in plastic, wood, automotive, and construction coatings. Métaux -- Revêtements protecteursIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The author discusses the development of zinc thermal diffusion (ZTD) and its role in the latest anti-corrosion technology.
In its simplest terms, corrosion is the result of a man-made material, such as a metal interacting with its environnent, often in a chemical or electrochemical reaction with an oxidant. The result can be unsightly and problematic, or even catastrophic. It can also be extremely costly. Worldwide, the direct and indirect costs of corrosion have been estimated by NAGE to be more than 3% of the global GDP. Corrosion adds significant cost burdens to business and industry for additional maintenance, repair, replacement, loss of service and more.
A great many products and applications are impacted by corrosion and, consequently, many different anti-corrosion methods and treatments have been developed and used over time, with differing levels of success. Corrosion protection has included organic/inorganic barrier coatings, barrier and sacrificial metallic-based coatings and even electronic systems that counter the intrinsic electric potential between metal parts and their service surroundings. Electroplating, hot-dip, metal flake and Sherardising are some of the familiar anti-corrosion treatments that have been applied for many years.Note de contenu : - Zinc thermal diffusion - enhancing corrosion protection
