Textiles et tissus -- LavageIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : An enzyme-based textile coloration process using peroxidase (EC1.11.1.7) was investigated for its potential as an alternative to conventional textile dyeing processes, with the benefits of being low in energy use and non-damaging to fibres. The current study presents a process for the coloration of wool fabric using peroxidase oxidation of a range of different aromatic compounds in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. The results revealed that wool can be successfully dyed by peroxidase-catalysed coloration at temperatures as low as 30°C. By controlling the pH values and buffer systems during processing, a diverse colour palette was produced, depending on the small molecular aromatic compound used as the precursor. Colour fastness testing found that fastness to washing, rubbing and light properties achieved good to excellent ratings, with further improvement to wash fastness provided by a post-soaping wash. No fibre damage occurred due to peroxidase-catalysed coloration. This enzyme coloration process is a promising alternative to conventional wool dyeing processes with the advantage of effective dyeing at low temperatures, therefore having the potential of reducing energy consumption and preventing fibre damage. TricotIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : The influence of sublimation transfer printing on alteration of the structural and physical properties of knitted fabrics was investigated in this research study. Seven different knitted fabrics, which differed in terms of structure and raw material composition (polyester, cotton and cotton/polyester), were printed using the sublimation transfer technique. For the sublimation of cotton/polyester and cotton knitted fabrics, a coating powder was used for paper modification with the aim to bond reactive ink to the natural fibres. The influence of yarn parameters, pattern and the density of knitted fabrics on the degree of changes after the printing process was considered. Smaller changes in structural and physical properties were recorded for polyester knitted fabrics, while major changes in structure were observed in knitted fabrics containing cotton fibres, where were weight gain and reduction in geometrical roughness values. In addition, a significant change in density was recorded for polyester printed knitted fabrics. The parameters that influenced the colour difference results for polyester knitted fabrics were the yarn parameters and the pattern. Significantly high colour difference values were obtained for cotton (from 7.9 to 14.2) and cotton/polyester (from 8.5 to 14.4) knitted fabrics. The main reason for the high colour difference results was the alteration in the structure of the knitted fabrics. Note de contenu : - Structural properties

Five different halochromic dyes were tested: bromocresol purple, m-cresol purple, chlorophenol red, curcumin and bromothymol blue. Preliminary dyeing was carried out on wool, polyacrylonitrile, polyester, polyamide 6.6, cotton and cellulose acetate at 100°C for 40 minutes to evaluate affinity. All the dyes showed good affinity to wool and polyamide 6.6. Cotton required a mordant phase before dyeing. Washing and light fastness were evaluated for the dyed fabrics, as well as colour changes at different pH values. Some fibres displayed good dye fastness and halochromic properties. Bromothymol blue was selected to dye polyamide 6.6 and cotton fabrics. The dyed fabrics displayed good halochromic properties across a pH range of 4 to 10. Cotton fabrics exhibited an immediate colour change; polyamide 6.6 changed colour after several minutes. An industrial dyeing process was performed on natural cellulosic fibres. The results confirmed the possibility of scaling up the process with regard to textile applications of halochromic dyes. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Materials - Methods - Analysis

PhotodétériorationIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Until now, the lightfastness of hair dyes had not been investigated using all-valence molecular orbital methods. The results of calculations are used to obtain the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) frontier electron density, which can reflect the propensity for electrophilic or nucleophilic attack at an atom in a molecule. Using semi-empirical quantum chemical methods AM1 and PM3, we have calculated the reactivity rates urn:x-wiley:14723581:media:cote12517:cote12517-math-0001, superdelocalisability urn:x-wiley:14723581:media:cote12517:cote12517-math-0002 and electron density distribution in the tested dyes. We have found that the photooxidation of hair dyes (photochemical decomposition of hair dyes) and derivatives of N-B-hydroxyethylamino-o-nitrobenzene occurs through the degradation of the N-B-hydroxyethylamine substituent and on C2 or C4 atom (C4–NO2) in the process of electrophilic reaction with singlet oxygen 1O2 or nucleophilic reaction on the C1 carbon atom of the aromatic ring, with the use of superoxide anion radical O2&. The structures of the dyes were optimised using MM+, DM and AM1 or PM3 until constant energy value was realised with a 0.01 kcal/mol convergence criterion. The effects on colour properties and hydrophobicity were studied. Pad-dyeing was carried out using a reddish-brown, tannin-rich dye. Some samples were then post-mordanted with iron(II) sulphate. Samples were sol-gel coated using tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) with small amounts of organically modified alkoxysilane precursors phenyltriethoxysilane (PHY) and n-octyltriethoxysilane (OCT) to impart hydrophobicity, and with 3-(glycidoxypropyl)-trimethoxysilane (GLY) to improve adhesion between the coating and the fabric. The colour parameters were analysed in the CIELab colour space. Dyed samples appeared reddish-brown, with the exception of those post-mordanted with iron(II) sulphate, which were dark brown. Sol-gel coating with hydrophobic alkyltriethoxysilanes (PHY or OCT) increased the hydrophobicity of the undyed fabrics, increasing contact angle values and drop absorption times. However, this hydrophobic sol-gel coating alone failed to impart hydrophobicity to the dyed fabrics. Post-mordanting with iron(II) sulphate was more effective in improving the hydrophobicity of the dyed fabrics than sol-gel coating. Only the dyed sample treated with both iron(II) sulphate and OCT completely prevented absorption of water droplets. Sol-gel coating was found to improve colour fastness to washing, light, and crocking. Post-mordanting with iron(II) sulphate improved colour fastness to washing and light, but not to crocking.
(Wikipedia)

Sondes fluorescentesIndex. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : A new coumarin derivative containing both imine bond and amide moiety was synthesised. It was used as a reaction-based pH probe and was sensitive to pH changes in the intervals 1.50–4.10 and 10.20–12.86. In the pH range 1.50–4.10, the ultraviolet-visible (UV‒vis) absorption band of the probe gradually shifted from 353 nm to 340 nm with decrease in the pH value. The colour changed from pale yellow fluorescence at pH 4.10 to blue fluorescence at pH 1.50. Meanwhile the fluorescence emission band at 501 nm gradually shifted to 560 nm accompanying a gradual enhancing in the emission intensity. This pH response is caused by the hydrolysis of the imine bond in the probe under acidic conditions (pH 1.50–4.10). The colourless probe solution turned yellow at pH range 10.20–12.86. Bathochromic shift of the fluorescence band from 501 nm gradually to 550 nm was observed with the increase of pH value from 10.20 to 12.86 accompanying a gradual enhancement of the fluorescence emission intensity, indicating that the new compound serves as a fluorescent pH probe at pH range 10.20–12.86 through a deprotonation process. Under strongly alkaline conditions with pH larger than 12.86, hydrolysis of the lactone structure in the probe occurred to produce non-fluorescent species. Teinture -- Fibres textilesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Precise dyeing recipe prediction is important in the final colour reproduction of textile dyeing and printing products. Currently, the widely used dyeing recipe prediction methods based on colour tri-stimulus cannot effectively avoid the metamerism phenomenon. An intelligent dyeing recipe prediction model for cotton fabric dyeing is proposed in this paper based on hyperspectral colour measurement and a deep learning algorithm. The hyperspectral colour measurement can obtain three-dimensional spectral information (X, Y and λ) of fabric samples, and can acquire accurate colour values even with uneven samples if the regional correlation algorithm is used. A deep learning algorithm based on an improved recurrent neural network was then employed to establish the model between spectral reflectance and the dyeing recipe. In total, 343 evenly dyed and 20 unevenly dyed fabric samples were dyed using the dyestuffs of Reactive Red CI 238, Reactive Blue CI 204 and Reactive Yellow CI 206, upon which the recipe prediction model was based, established and evaluated. The experimental results show that the proposed model based on hyperspectral colour measurement and our algorithm can provide higher prediction accuracy for Reactive Red CI 238, Reactive Blue CI 204 and Reactive Yellow CI 206. The relative prediction errors are 3.40%, 2.70% and 3.10%, respectively, for these three types of dyeing recipe, while the relative prediction errors are 19.60%, 22.60% and 11.83%, respectively, using the Datacolor 650 recipe prediction model. Teinture -- Fibres textilesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : The importance of quinonoidal planarity in improving the wet fastness of acid dyes was studied in a new series of N-sulphonatoalkyl-substituted indophenine derivatives. These derivatives were synthesised via the sulphonatoalkylation reaction of isatins with alkanesultone or sodium bromoalkanesulphonate followed by the indophenine reaction. The effects of the position of sulphonic acid groups, length of the alkyl chain, and electron-donating/withdrawing groups on geometry, electronic structure, solubility, and absorption properties were systematically examined and correlated with the performances of the dyes on wool, silk and nylon fabrics. The N-sulphonatoalkyl indophenine dyes could exhibit a blue colour in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) and on silk or nylon fabric but a purplish colour in water and on wool fabric. Methoxy groups had a negative impact on the molar extinction coefficient and dye exhaustion, leading to relatively poor dyeing performance. In comparison, fluorine or chlorine atoms were less influential. The introduction of nitro groups could induce a yellowness to the dyed fabrics caused by the strengthened absorption at the region of 360 to 420 nm and reduce the dyeing rate and wet fastness level due to the low dye–fibre affinity. In general, the N-sulphonatoalkyl indophenine dyes exhibited satisfactory washing and rubbing fastness, especially on dyed nylon fabric. This study provides insight into the structure–property relationship of indophenine dyes and demonstrates that sulphonatoalkylation is an efficient methodology for designing high-performance textile dyestuffs based on quinonoidal heterocyclic structures.
H 2 S O 4 + H 2 O ⇌ H 3 O + + H S O 4 − {\displaystyle \mathrm {H_{2}SO_{4}\ +\ H_{2}O\ \rightleftharpoons \ H_{3}O^{+}\ +\ HSO_{4}^{-}} } {\displaystyle \mathrm {H_{2}SO_{4}\ +\ H_{2}O\ \rightleftharpoons \ H_{3}O^{+}\ +\ HSO_{4}^{-}} }
la protonation de l’isobutène dans la formation d’une carbocation :

A substituted picramide derivative has also been synthesised and characterised using various spectroscopic techniques to rule out the previously suggested protonated Meisenheimer complexes and support our proposed protonated structure. Various other investigations, including the interactions of the Meisenheimer complex with bulky electrophile Lawesson's reagent and bulky Lewis acid Eu(fod)3, were also carried out to support the mechanism of protonation. Various bulky bases as well as bases of different strengths were treated with the protonated Meisenheimer complex to support our proposed structure. Based on the protonation of the Meisenheimer complex, a general colorimetric volatile acid sensor has been designed, where a distinct colour change from orange to colourless was found to take place after protonation. The sensor can detect volatile acids both in the solid and in the solution state. The sensor was also applied to detect hydrogen chloride vapour in an automated manner using a smartphone, where information regarding the leakage position can be obtained through wireless communication. The detection limit of hydrogen chloride vapour was found to be 43.5 ppm. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Materials - Synthesis of compound 1a - Synthesis of compound 5 - Characterisation methods
