Various techniques have been proposed in the literature to solve such problems by reducing the overall demolding force. This paper presents the challenge of demolding replicated parts and reviews the proven solutions from the literature which have been developed. A summary chart of these solutions is presented which may be used to implement plans to solve demolding problems with replicated parts. Such a rationalization of existing knowledge will enable replication tool developers to systematically select and apply proven solutions to solve, and ultimately prevent, demolding problems. Note de contenu : - THE ORIGINS OF DEMOLDING PROBLEMS
- THEORETICAL STUDIES ON DEMOLDING FORCE
- INTERPRETING FRICTION MECHANISMS AND FACTORS AFFECTING DEMOLDING FORCES : Adhesion friction mechanisms - Deformation friction mechanisms - Factors affecting the magnitude of release forces and demolding solutions
- PROVEN SOLUTIONS : Optimise the part and tool designs - Reduce normal force (stress due to the totality of shrinkage) - Optimise relative tool/part material properties - Optimise surface topography (no surface coatings) - Optimise wettability/surface energies (including surface coatings) - Minimize electrostatic charge - Reduce presence or effect of moisture
