Integrins, as an important family of transmembrane receptors, play a key role in cell-matrix interactions and are involved in cell signaling. Binding of specific ligands within the extracellular matrix to these receptors is a crucial step to maintain a vital tissue structure. For this reason a selective cyclic peptide containing an arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (RGD) sequence was designed for cosmetic applications.
The objective of the present work was to evaluate the binding efficiency of different RGD peptides to specific integrins. The cyclic RGD peptide was tested in a placebo-controlled study with human volunteers with respect to its anti-aging efficacy in vivo. The results of the ligand inhibition assay with immobilized integrins clearly demonstrated that only the cyclic conformation of the RGD motif motively binds to the integrin receptors In terms of anti-aging properties, this in vivo trial confirmed the results of previous in vitro investigations where a positive effect on wrinkle reduction was observed. Our present work again supports the hypothesis that this specific RGD peptide composition successfully mimics the biological function of extracellular matrix proteins by activating signaling pathways and targets involved in the prevention of aging.Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Ligand inhibition assay with immobilized integrins - Statistical evaluation of the in vivo data

Produits hydratantsIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : RonaCare® RenouMer is a new and innovative ingredient based on the treasures of oceans and more specifically on a red algae (Polysiphonia elongata) notably found on the French Brittany coast. Considering the necessity to preserve natural resources on longer-term basis, P. elongata has been produced in a sustainable manner. RonaCare® RenouMer counteracts effects of skin ageing, characterized by a thinner dermis, storing less water and resulting in lors in skin smoothness.
We demonstrated in an in vitro model how the collagen synthesis could be increased after application of RonaCare® RenouM¬er and outstanding skin rejuvenation properties could be measured on an in vivo basis. After 2 months treatment with 2 % RonaCare® RenouMer on the face, skin was smoothed, wrinkles visibly reduced, density of the dermis increased and skin elas¬ticity improved. Finally superior hydration rate was recorded.
Overall, a novel and sustainable ingredient has been found enabling consumer to look younger, longer.Note de contenu : - MATERIALS AND METHODS : Test products - Measuring collagen synthesis - Measuring anti-ageint effect on humans
