Résumé : |
The Environmental Protection Agency has legislated more stringent air quality laws which has created the need for new innovation in the development of low VOC coatings. In the quest for a more environmentally compliant coating, a number of new technologies have become available from coatings manufacturers. One field of study that has gained interest is that of radiation curable products initiated by either ultraviolet light (UV) or electron beam (EB). Ultraviolet light curable coatings are one component systems that combine the benefits of rapid film formation and low VOC into high quality coatings. This paper will discuss cationic and free radical polymerization, types of photoinitiators, toxicology, application, and potential markets. |
