Revêtements -- Séchage sous rayonnement ultraviolet:Peinture -- Séchage sous rayonnement ultravioletIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Production problems can arise with UV curing when insufficient UV light is availeble to cure the ink/coating. Tnis paper is about how to achieve the desired quality.
For most printers, converters and coaters of metal sheets, wood products, plastics and other substrates, UV-cured inks and coatings are preferred for both function and results, producing high quality images, with excellent adhesion and abrasion resistance. To produce a beautifully decorated, transfer-resistant product, there are many production concerns that must be addressed by the Coating or Print Managers and their staff. Potential problems range from miner issues, such as the substrate surface, printing press or coater applicator condition and limitations, ink or coating quality and thickness to the UV curing system itself. After production comes transporting the finished product without any transit abrasion and finally, passing your customer's incoming QC inspection. As a result, there are many sleepless nights for these resilient and well-tested Print and Coating Managers. Fortunately, there is 'light at the end of the tunnel', no pun intended, for those that have these production and sleep issues.
In many cases, there is a direct correlation between the Print/Coating Manager's sleepless nights and the performance limitation of the UV lamp system used in an attempt to shine enough of that important and mandatory UV light to successfully cure the ink/coating. Usually, the greater the amount of UV light, the better the cure and you are problem free. If there's inadequate UV light to cure the ink/ coating, then you have problems and sleep issues become common occurrences. While that is a basic rule, it's really more complex than that.

Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=5980

Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : An attempt to develop a phosphorus-based flame-retardant UV-curable agent (UV-RA) for coating application led to the synthesis of a reactive compound which can be used as crosslinker along with UV-curable epoxy acrylate oligomer to form a coating. UV-RA was characterized via FTIR, NMR, hydroxyl, and iodine values. Study based on the effects of varying amount of UV-RA incorporated in the formulation was investigated by checking thermal, mechanical, and flame-retardant properties. An enhancement in all the properties was observed with an increase in concentration of UV-RA and each coating containing UV-RA successfully portrayed flame-retardant properties. The highest loss on ignition (LOI) value obtained was 27 while the initial and final degradation temperatures increased along with the char yield. The mechanical properties did not vary much except for the low values for 20UV-RA.

Revêtements poudre:Peinture poudreIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The UV-curable powder coatings allow the finishing of temperature-sensitive substrates such as wood, MDF (medium-density fibreboard), plastics and paper. The binder system is mostly comprised of unsaturated polyester, a vinyl ether and acrylic polyurethane. The curing mechanism consists of free radical polymerisation of the double bonds.
In comparison with free radical UV curing, the cationic-initiated UV-curing technology offers the advantages of insensitivity to oxygen and lower film shrinkage. Epoxides are one of the most important and widely used classes of resins in the field of cationic UV-curable powder coatings. Epoxy systems do not require any additional curing agent, they cure within seconds and have unlimited working times.
For photocationic curable powder coatings, solid epoxy resins have been used. However, such a system has some disadvantages: the epoxy value is too low to obtain sufficient cross-link density. This problem may be overcome by the use of a binder having more epoxide rings in the oligomer structure (eg epoxypolyesters). In the present study, a series of solid epoxypolyesters were prepared by polycondensation of glycols, tetrahydrophthalic anhydride and dicyclopentadiene, followed by the epoxidation of the double bonds in unsaturated polyester. The epoxypolyesters were subject to photoinitiated cationic polymerisation. The evaluation of the film performance was also carried out. The coatings prepared from these epoxypolyesters exhibited good hardness, impact strength and adhesion.Note de contenu : - STATE-OF-THE-ART : Chemistry of UV-curing coatings - Cationic mechanism
