The increasing popularity of botanical ingredients in skincare and haircare is attributed to their efficacy and natural origins. However, limited research has focused on the synthesis and secretion of sebum. This study aims to explore the novel composition of Lotus corniculatus seed extract (Smopore LC) and its inhibitory effects on lipogenesis in SZ95 sebocytes. Topical application of Smopore LC resulted in an immediate and long-lasting reduction in sebum content and sebum area on Chinese oily skin, achieved by downregulating sebaceous lipogenesis through the LA and DHT pathway.
