A study was made in retrospect on the calving performance of 119 Hereford cattle in relation to the presence or absence of th vertical fiber hide defect or an intermediate form of this condition. No difference of dystocias (calving problems) or stillbirths. The analysis of more detailed records obtained from 91 of these animals when they first entered the breeding herd also failed to reveal any significant differences among groups in the overall level of fertility. These results are contrasted with those obtained by others who have studied the problem. |
