ThermochimieIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : The rates of fading of 18 reactive azo dyes on polyamide fabrics and films upon exposure to a carbon arc in air have been determined from the initial slopes. The rates have been thermochemically analysed by calculating the heats of formation of the reactants, intermediates, and products by chemical equations describing (1) the second-order disproportionation (redox reaction) between the photoinduced hydrazinyl radicals and (2) the intramolecular H-transfer (self-decomposition) of the radicals, using the RM1 semi-empirical molecular orbital method. The rates of azo cleavage (or reductive fading) were studied to correlate the molecular structures with three molecular descriptors: (a) the heats of reaction for two reaction pathways, (b) the thermodynamic stability of the photoinduced hydrazinyl radicals, and (c) the quantum yields of generation. The possibility of structure optimisation of the examined azo dyes is discussed from the perspectives of (a) and (b). The light fastness of several previously reported substituted phenylazophenol (model) dyes on a polyamide substrate has been analysed by the same procedure. Two of the latter dyes exhibit typical photoreduction-fast properties, which determine the threshold ?rH°(gas) value of the N11-hydrazinyl dye radical for (1), indicating that the chemical structures of azo dyes may, in principle, be modified to include reduction-fast azo groups. The current state of reactive azo dyes is considerably below the level required to achieve reduction-fast dye. The chemical structures of current reactive azo dyes appear not to have been optimised on the basis of the molecular descriptors (a) and (b), and only insufficiently on the basis of (c). A water-based ink was prepared from polyacrylate-based thickener. The physical and chemical properties of the polyacrylate-based thickener used for preparing the inkjet printing ink, as well as its printing effects on carpet, were investigated. Before printing, the properties of the ink, including its surface tension, electrolyte resistance, storage stability, and percentage removal, were investigated. After printing, the efficiency of coloration of printed carpet and the fastness of printed carpet were studied. The results concerning the surface tension and percentage removal of printing ink show that the polyacrylate-based thickener printing ink is suitable for nylon carpet inkjet printing. Meanwhile, its storage stability and electrolyte resistance make it suitable for printing. The efficiency of coloration of printed carpet and the fastness of printed carpet satisfy the requirements of application at appropriate ink concentration and viscosity. Textiles et tissus synthétiquesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : A series of symmetrical optical brighteners based on stilbene-oxadiazole derivatives were prepared by the simple synthetic route of a condensation reaction between 4,4?-dicarboxystilbene and N,N?-carbonyldiimidazole reagent, forming stilbene 4,4?-ethene-1,2-diyldibenzohydrazide as a key intermediate. The obtained compounds were characterised by analysis of nuclear magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis data. The absorption maximum wavelength, fluorescence emission wavelength, and fluorescence quantum yield were measured in N,N-dimethylformamide solution at room temperature, and the fluorescence properties of the prepared compounds in the solid state were observed and measured. The compounds exhibited bluish and greenish fluorescence emission, with the fluorescence quantum yield in the range 0.2–0.8; the effects of substituents on the emission spectra of these compounds were interpreted. The prepared compounds were applied as optical brighteners to polyester and polyamide-6 fabrics at various concentrations, and their CIE whiteness index and fastness properties were studied. vision des couleursIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : In many colour-related fields, such as textile colour measurement systems based on computer vision as well as dyestuff synthesis, colour constancy with illumination variation is a key problem to be solved. A new algorithm of illumination compensation for colour constancy for textured textiles is proposed in this paper, combining an improved least-squares support vector regression (LSSVR) and an improved GM(1,1) model of grey theory. The LSSVR algorithm was improved by determining the error limitation according to the distance between a standard sample and a test sample, while the improved GM(1,1) model used the average value of the sequence x^(1)(1)-x^(1)(n) as the initial iteration value. The disadvantage of LSSVR, that it easily falls into global optimisation, can be compensated for by the local optimisation capacity of the GM(1,1) model. Experimental results show that the algorithm of this paper is very stable and provides good illumination compensation, whereby the time complexity of compensation is reduced by repeatedly processing fractional data with the LSSVR algorithm, and the prediction accuracy is improved by combining the improved GM(1,1) model and the LSSVR algorithm. ThiolsIndex. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : This paper is devoted to the phenolsulphonephthalein nitro derivative 3,3'-dinitrophenolsulphonephthalein, also called nitrophenol violet (NPV). The neutral molecular form, H2R, was isolated as a sultonic tautomer, and an X-ray crystal structure analysis was carried out. UV-vis absorption spectra in methanol, DMSO, acetonitrile, and water at different pH values were ascribed to the molecular and anionic (H2R, HR-, and R2-) species. Whereas the pKa values of this acid–base indicator (HR- urn:x-wiley:14723581:media:cote12254:cote12254-math-0001 R2- + H+) in water and DMSO are close to those of 3,3',5,5'-tetrabromophenolsulphonephthalein (or bromophenol blue), replacing the four Br atoms with two NO2 groups results in a pronounced tendency to carbinol formation. In weakly acidic aqueous media, the HR- anion slowly converts into the colourless carbinol H2ROH-. The latter is transformed to the orange carbocation only in concentrated (70-94 wt%) sulphuric acid. The formation of H2ROH- is atypical for the common sulphonephthalein indicators and should be ascribed to the enhanced positive charge density on the nodal carbon atom. The reaction mechanism and kinetic equation explaining this pH-dependent process are proposed, in addition to a kinetic study of the common process R2- + HO- -> ROH3- in the alkaline region. The numerical characterisation of the protolytic processes obtained for NPV is also helpful in gaining a better understanding of the properties of previously studied 3,3',5,5'-tetranitrophenolsulphonephthalein, which is much less accessible for a quantitative description. Toxicologie cellulaireIndex. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : Several benzo[a]phenoxazine dyes containing a maleimide moiety have been synthesised and characterised by proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. The spectroscopic properties, such as absorption and emission spectra, of these dyes – 9-maleimido-5H-benzo[a]phenoxazin-5-one (7a), 6-chloro-9-maleimido-5H-benzo[a]phenoxazin-5-one (7b), and 6-bromo-9-maleimido-5H-benzo[a]phenoxazin-5-one (7c) – were examined. These compounds were evaluated as potential fluorescent and colorimetric probes for the detection of biothiols. Results show that the studied compounds exhibit colorimetric and fluorescent responses to l-cysteine at pH 7.4. In the presence of l-cysteine, the fluorescence intensity of synthesised dyes is greatly enhanced. The addition of l-cysteine to solutions of dyes 7a to 7c also results in red shifts of their absorption bands. The cytotoxic effect of tested dyes 7a to 7c against human neuroblastoma cells (SH-SY5Y) was determined by MTT assay. The fluorescent response of these compounds to thiols SH-SY5Y was examined. The results show that the tested compounds exhibit fluorescent response in this cell line, and the benzo[a]phenoxazine dyes substituted in the 6-position with a halogen (7b and 7c) are less toxic against cells under experimental conditions than their unsubstituted analogue (7a). The synthesised dyes were characterised by proton nuclear magnetic resonance and elemental analysis. The thermal stability was examined by thermogravimetric analysis, and solubility was estimated in industrial solvents such as N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone and propylene glycol methyl ether acetate. The dyes, which exhibited suitable physical properties for use in a dye–pigment hybrid colour filter, were fabricated into colour filters, and their optical properties were measured. Colorants solvantsIndex. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : In this study, biodiesel (OSRB) from degummed oilseed radish oil (OSR) was obtained by transesterification, and the effect on its thermal stability of a binary compound containing a conventional antioxidant and a solvent dye was evaluated. A combination of the traditional antioxidant tert-butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) and a solvent dye, so-called CI Solvent Blue 35 (SB-35), was prepared and incorporated into OSR and OSRB prior to analysis. The acid value, peroxide value, and induction period were measured, and it was found that TBHQ and SB-35 were highly effective in stabilising OSR and OSRB when used in combination. The TBHQ/SB-35 blend had strong antioxidation activity, even at very low concentrations, when compared with the addition of the individual compounds. In summary, the results showed that a TBHQ/SB-35 blend may be successfully used as an alternative additive for improving oil and biodiesel preservation. SquarainesLes colorants squaraines sont une classe de colorants organiques présentant une fluorescence intense, typiquement dans la région infrarouge rouge et proche (les maxima d'absorption se trouvent entre 630 et 670 nm et leurs maxima d'émission se situent entre 650-700 nm). Ils sont caractérisés par leur système aromatique unique à anneaux à quatre chaînons dérivé de l'acide squaric . La plupart des squaraines sont encombrés par une attaque nucléophile de l'anneau central à quatre chaînons, qui est très déficient en électrons . Cette encombrement peut être atténué par la formation d'un rotaxane autour du colorant pour le protéger des nucléophiles. Ils sont actuellement utilisés comme capteurs pour les ions et récemment, avec l'avènement des dérivés de squanaine protégés, ont été exploités dans l'imagerie biomédicale.Index. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : The synthesis and spectroscopic properties of fluorescent amino-substituted squaraine dyes have been presented. The interaction between bovine serum albumin (BSA) and fluorescence probes derived from squaric acid was studied by UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopies. The Benesi–Hildebrand, Lehrer, and Stern–Volmer equations were used to present the influence of BSA concentration on the binding constant for the process of association with squaraine dyes, as well as the effect of the concentration of fluorescence probes on the quenching process. It was also shown that the interaction between BSA and squaraine dyes is spontaneous. The number of binding sites to bovine serum albumin for a series of squaraine dyes has also been calculated. PolyadditionIndex. décimale : 667.2 Colorants et pigments Résumé : The appropriate substituents have been added to a 7H-benzimidazo[2,1-a]benz[de]isoquinolin-7-one skeleton in order to obtain a one-component initiator system. The absorption, fluorescence, and electrochemical properties of these naphthoylenebenzimidazolone dyes and their usefulness as visible light initiators of free radical polymerisation of trimethylolpropane triacrylate were examined. The initiation efficiency of these dyes was compared with that of the parent 7H-benzimidazo[2,1-a]benz[de]isoquinolin-7-one in the presence of a coinitiator. Results show that these bifunctional dyes are able to initiate polymerisation without an additional coinitiator. Photopolymerisation studies and the relationship between the rate of polymerisation and the free energy change for electron transfer revealed that, depending on the concentration, initiating radicals are generated via intra- and intermolecular electron transfer.
