These finishes were based on these copolymer resins of thermoplastic and thermosetting types. Both the types of copolymers were neutralised with triethylamine and made water compatible with the help of cosolvent butylcellosolve. Pigments and additives were added accordingly in the preparation of these novelty finishes. Special application techniques were used to apply these coatings (finishes). Thus an attempt was made for the preparation of ecofriendly novelty finishes. The polyamide resins were characterized for physico-chemical characteristics. Coating compositions based on epoxy resin and polyamide resins were made and evaluated for film and other properties Certain compositions were found to have satisfactory performance when compared with that of compositions based on epoxy resin and polyamide resins made from commercial dimer fatty acids.
