Sol-gel, ProcédéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The development of hybrid materials has been extensively investigated in recent years. Hybrid sol-gel coating technology is one of the modern coating technologies to modify the surface property of metal without changing the metallic look of the surface.
The combination of a wide variety of compositions and production processes had permitted the use of these materials in different applications like coatings for corrosion protection of metals, antireflection coatings, etc.
Protective coatings based on sol-gel technology shows excellent chemical stability , oxidation control ans enhanced corrision resistance of metal substrate.
Nowadays, environmental legislation has pressured to prohibit the use of toxic material like chromate in pretreatment. The organic-inorganic hybrid films made by sol-gel reaction can be developed as an alternate for chromate in pretreatment. The low temperature processing conditions of the Sol-gel hybrids and their fast curing behaviour enables one to perform coil coating processes and to apply thin film on metal sheets.Note de contenu : - BRIEF HISTORY OF SOL-GEL CHEMISTRY

RevêtementsIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The name polyaspartic is becoming more recognyzable among formulators, specifiers, and applicators in the coatings industry to differentiate it from polyurea and polyurethanes. Polyaspartic coating is a recent development in the polyurethane coatings industry. Two main application areas are reaction injection moulding (RIM) and sprayable coatings.
Polyaspartic coatings combine extreme application properties such as rapid cure (even at temperatures well below 0°C) and intensitivity to humidity to exceptional physical properties such as high hardness, flexibility, tear and tensile strength, and chemical and water resistance. The result is good weathering and abrasion resistance. The systems are 100 % solids, making them compliant with strictest VOC regulations. Due to its specific curing profile and exceptional film properties, the polyaspartic coating technique developed into various areas, including corrosion protection, containment, membranes, linings and caulks, polyaspartic coatings increase the productivity and reduc the overall cost.Note de contenu : - History of polyaspartics coatings chemistry

These coatings can be temporary or permanent depending on the type of application & perform unique & challenging functions. The most commonly used release coatings are based on silicones due to their unique chemistry.
- Silicone release coatings can be solvent or water based or solvent-less catalyses normally with Tin/Platinum depending on application & performance requirements. They can be heat cured or UV cured.
- From the viewpoint of application substrates, each system has its preferences and advantages.
Solvent-based silicones are versatile - they can be used on just about anything. Solventless silicones are used on calendered Kfraft, glassine, polycoats, clay-coated papers, and films. emulsion's growth center on machine-grade papers and glassine, while UV is primarily used on films.
- The chemistry allows formulation of systems which can be tailor-made for different applications areas ranging from release labels to diaper closures, health, beauty & medical & manuy other applications such as non-stick cookware, etc.Note de contenu : - RELEASE COATING MARKETS
