Opacité (optique)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : For those who have been in the coatings industry long enough, the rollercoaster ride of TiO2 price comes as no surprise. That said, the day of an even 10-year cycle in price have changed to shorter periods of high price (often painfully high) followed by longer periods of relatively low price (painfull for the suppliers). Even when relatively "cheap", TiO2 continues to be one of the most expensive raw materials in a coating, so ensuring that the pigment is used correctly and efficiently remains a crucial busines objective. In many cases it is neither feasible nor desirable to lower the overall emissions of a coating by simply reducing or completely removing the coalescents present in the formulation as this will have a negative effect on the application, performance and quality of the paint.
