Tannage Résumé : The application of wool fibres for recovery of heavy metal ions is equivalent to the use of one waste to clean-up of another. A carboxylate functionalized wool fibre (PAA-g-Wool) was prepared by grafting poly(acrylic acid) onto the surface of wool fibre in the presence of potassium permanganate and oxalic acid as a redox initiator system. The graft percentage was 80.2%. The PAA-g-Wool adsorbent was applied to absorb chromium(III) from aqueous solutions in a batchwise manner. The optimum pH for recovery of chromium(III) by PAA-g-Wool was found to be 6.0. Kinetic studies show that the sorption process agrees with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model, with the correlation coefficient (R2) more than 0.99. The adsorption equilibrium of chromium(III) was well defined by the Langmuir isotherm equation, and the adsorption capacity was found to be 95.78mg/g calculated by the Langmuir isotherm equation. After recycling for 5 times, the adsorption capacity of PAA-g-Wool to chromium ions was still maintained at 90%. The PAA-g-Wool could recover 97.1% of chromium(III) ions in the tannery wastewater. Extraits de plantes:Extraits (pharmacie)Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : Preservation of animal skin using common salt is widely followed globally and has been in vogue since time immemorial. Salt used for preservation is discharged along with the soak liquor and contributes to 70% of TDS load from leather manufacturing. As an attempt to reduce chloride and TDS, plant based preservation with Tamarindus indica was studied. Different concentrations of salt and Tamarind leaf extract were applied on freshly-flayed goatskins based on its green weight and compared with control (40% salt alone/kg of skin wt.). Sensory evaluation of the preserved skin was done every day (till 21st day) for smell, hair slip and putrefaction. The samples were collected on 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 71h, 14th and 21st day and tests such as moisture content, total nitrogen content, protein content, hydroxyproline content and microbial load for finding out the curing efficiency. Skin those were preserved for 21 days were processed into leather and the leather and properties were examined. The result showed that 15% salt with 15% Tamarindus indica and 10% salt with 15% Tamarindus indica (Test) showed good preservation systems. Note de contenu : - Skin - Plant extract

However, the main difficulty which hinders the utilization of protease in unhairing is the injury to skin caused by the protease. In this article, a collagenase was purified from the protease (2709). The particular collagenase is a metalloprotease which is inhibited by EDTA. On the other hand, 2709 itself is a serine protease which is insensitive to EDTA. A way to reduce the injury to skin was put forward. When 10mM EDTA is added to crude enzyme solutions of 2709, the protease (2709) retains 90.5% of the proteolytic activity, and the unhairing capacity of 2709 has little loss. AI the same time, 2709 loses 66.9% of the collagenolytic activity since the collagenase is inhibited by EDTA. Therefore, the injury to skin will be reduced. Sulfurique, AcideIndex. décimale : 675.2 Préparation du cuir naturel. Tannage Résumé : Dechroming is essential for utilization of chromium-containing leather wastes. Strong hydrolysis conditions favour breaking of the Cr and collagen linkage, but lead to a high degree of hydrolysis of the collagen se that the separation of chromium from the gelatinous hydrolysates becomes difficult. In this research, a mild acid-alkali alternate treatment of the waste with hydrolysis assistants was investigated, so as to develop a technology that has high dechroming level and low hydrolysis degree of collagen. A satisfactory dechroming method with four steps was finally obtained and the reaction conditions for each step were optimized as follows. Step 1 — waste in the solution with 2g1L NaOH and 40g/L urea {hydrolysis assistant) was stirred for 0.5 hours at 40°C. Step 2 — waste in 50g/L sulfuric acid solution was stirred for 1 heur at 40°C. Step 3 — waste in 40 g/L Cap% suspension was stirred for 2 hour at 30°C. Step 4 — waste in 50g/L suffuric acid solution was stirred for 1 hour at 30°C. With this method, total extent of the dechroming of the waste was higher Chan 97% while the hydrolysis degree of collagen was lower than 10%.
Spectrométrie de masseIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : N-Alkyl-2-pyrrolidones such as N-methyl- and N-ethyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP and NEP) are widely used as solvents in leather finishing agents. However, NMP and NEP were identified as reproductive toxicants. Moreover, NMP has been listed in the Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) by European Chemicals Agency. Herein, we have developed a simple and rapid gas chromatography-mass spectrometry method for the simultaneous determination of NMP and NEP in leather samples. The extraction solvent, methods and time have bean comparatively investigated and optimized for enhancing the extraction efficiency of NMP and NEP in samples. Under optimal extraction and GC-MS conditions, the linear range of both NMP and NEP were between 0.5 and 100mg L-1 with regression coefficients (R2) of 0.999. The Relative standard deviation (R.S.D.) for ten replications of analysis was 2.6% and 2.8% for NMP and NEP, respectively. And limit of detection (LOD) for NMP and NEP were bath 0.1mg/kg. In leather samples the mean recoveries were 94.8%-105.6% and 98.5%-105.2% for NMP and NEP, respectively. The proposed method has been proved to be applicable for the simultaneous determination of the target NMP and NEP in leather samples.
