Tests de sécuritéIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Examining cosmetic and personal care items stands as a pivotai and arguably the most crucial phase in the creation of a new product. To introduce any personal care product into global markets, rigorous testing becomes imperative to gauge its microbiological integrity, guaranteeing the safety of the product for ail consumers.
In addition to microbiological testing, each product must undergo a stability assessment of some degree. This evaluation encompasses an examination of the product's physical and chemical composition under various conditions to ascertain the formulation's resilience.
Variables including appearance, pH levels, viscosity, colour, and odour undergo meticulous examination at ISCA during our comprehensive 12-week accelerated stability test.
A cosmetic stability test and microbiological assessment report of a product is a required element of the cosmetic safety assessment that is required for the Product Information File (PIF), which is a legal document that is required according to the Cosmetic Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 for any cosmetic/personal care product that is to be sold within the European market'
Cosmetic products and the associated testing methods must evolve in step with industry trends. This motivated our decision at ISCA to reassess our existing test procedures and enhance them to align with the dynamic cosmetic sector. Our pursuit of this goal led to the development of our own certified Vegan Challenge Test method, in collaboration with The Vegan Society.Note de contenu : - Market trends

Tests de sécuritéIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : The vegan movement has certainly gathered momentum over the past few years. So much so that, today, it could be considered far more than a trend. Around the world, an increasing number of people are making conscious decisions about the goods they purchase, and how they purchase them.
The demand for 'sustainable', 'cruelty free', and 'vegan' products continues to rise – pushing brands across a variety of industries to make more ethical decisions. This has not always been the case. Until fairly recently, being vegan was considered to be a niche lifestyle choice, mostly confined to dietary requirements.
However today, the growing vegan movement is impacting more than just the food and drink industry. Over the past few years, people have become more mindful of what they put into – and onto – their bodies more than ever before, which has led to an explosion in the number of vegan beauty and personal care products on the market.Note de contenu : - Safety testing procedures

Soie végétaleIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Human hair can be damaged in many different ways. Frequently in everyday life, the natural fibres come into close contact with heat or chemical agents, which attack and damage their structure and can impair their visual appearance. In recent decades, various substances have been identified and developed by the cosmetics industry to minimize such influences. Previously, it has been reported that Silkgel, a breakthrough nature-inspired biopolymer from Givaudan Active Beauty, offers many unique benefits particularly for the use in hair care applications such as anti-pollution, anti-colour-fading and sensorial features.
A completely new application for this highly innovative, vegan and biomimetic raw material presents its use as conditioning agent to protect and repair the hair structure from damages. Due to its defined composition and its ability to self-assembly, the biotechnologically derived vegan silk polypeptides inside the Silkgel are able to form a protective and conditioning film onto the surface of the hair. Therefore, vegan silk molecules can represent a valid alternative to traditional and chemical protective conditioning agents based on hydrolysates such as keratin, wheat protein and wheat starch. According to our latest findings, it has been demonstrated that vegan silk polypeptides used as protective or repair conditioning agents were able to increase the breaking force as well as to decrease the 3D volume fraction of the damage (x-ray nanotomography) of thermally treated and dyed hair. Thus, in contrast to conventional raw materials based on e.g. silicones, which are commonly used for hair conditioning and protection, vegan silk represents a true ecological, natural-inspired and vegan alternative with an excellent protective and repairing performance for both thermal treatment and colouration of hair, thereby meeting the expectations of the highly innovative clean beauty market.Note de contenu : - THE HAIR STYLING MARKET WILL CONTINUE TO GROW WITH THE RISING CONSUMER DEMAND OF INNOVATIVE ACTIVE INGREDIENTS

Produits veganIndex. décimale : 668.5 Parfums et cosmétiques Résumé : Vegan cosmetics are the fastest growing vegan market and also the fastest growing sector in the personal care industry. In the US alone, the vegan personal care market is already worth over $4.1 billion/year. By 2025 its estimated that the global market will be worth over $20.8 billion/year.
With such a growing demand globally for vegan personal care products, more brands are looking at having vegan ranges and some are transitioning to fully vegan brands. The option of having accredited microbiology testing is essential for them. Companies should not have to choose between being able to sell their products to retailers that insist on accreditation or using microbiological culture media containing animal products.
Although the vegan cosmetic market is booming, testing without using animal products is still not available on a large scale. Even with the newly available vegan alternatives to the standard culture media, many labs shy away from offering vegan testing due to it being ‘commercially unviable’. This article details the journey of a laboratory whose passion for the vegan lifestyle and love of animals and the environment prompted them to start the process of providing a full suite of accredited vegan microbiology testing.Note de contenu : - Moving to vegan
