Revêtements anti-graffitisIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : It's war : graffiti artists no longer stand a chance with the introduction of a new generation resin from the coatings industry.
Graffiti, especially on buildings, public transport vehicles or public utilities, is a great nuisance. In recent years there has been a drastic increase in the amount of damage done to these utilities due to the application of graffiti. For instance in Berlin/Germany approximately 25,000 spray cans are misused to produce graffiti every day. And, as it appears impossible to reduce the amount of graffiti being applied, another solution must be found. The goal is the removal of graffiti using simple cleaning methods, if possible only with water. The costs of graffiti removal is immense. For a long time the coatings industry has thought of different possibilities of a simple method of graffiti removal. There are several possibilities to make coatings for public utilities and transport vehicles graffiti-resistant, including the use of sacrificial coatings and coatings having resistance to aggressive cleaning methods and chemicals. These include the modification of the coating with anti-graffiti resins, the modification of the coating with fluorosilane compounds the use of fluorocarbon-based coatings, and the installation of clear films (PTFE, for example). Price and working properties speak for the modification of coatings with anti-graffiti resins.Note de contenu : - Fair weathered friends

Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Many advantages in high performance systems polyurethane dispersions are gaining more and more importance in the paint and coating industry. Some of the characteristics that have contributed to the growth of polyurethane dispersions include improved mechanical properties, high flexibility and tensile strength and stability in changing pH-values. These properties in addition to the nonpolluting characteristics of water based systems, make polyurethane dispersions unique. Various resin building blocks, especially the use of tailor made polyether diols influence positive the final properties of polyurethane dispersions. Note de contenu : - Resin building blocks

Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Hydroxy-functional polyether and polyester macrodiols, often refered to as soft segments, have found wide applications as reactive building blocks for the synthesis of polyurethane resins and binders. The appropriate choice of soft segments for the synthesis of PUR binders allows for a broad spectra of paint properties. a,w-Polymethacrylate diols represent a new class of macrodiols which successfully combines positive properties of ester and acrylate structures in one single macrodiol. Depending on the formulation, the following benefits can be shown: higher hardness, better flexibility, good humidity stress resistance, improved hydrolysis resistance, better weathering resistance. However, these multifunctional systems are also ideally suited to use in other areas industry, as shown by the following example of high-strengh bolted joints in wing turbines, which are exposed to corrosion, extreme weather conditions and high dynamic stresses. Note de contenu : - Significant demand in the wind energy industry
- Six tonnes of screws and bolts per turbine
- Avoiding brittle fracture failure
