Optimisation of lacquers, paints, inks, coatings, adhesives, lubricants, agrochemical and cosmetic formulations is a very time consuming process, if carried out in a traditional way, ie manually. The reason is that typically formulations can consist of 10-15 active components ; the nature and concentration of these components need to be carefully optimised. Additionally, the application and the performance testing of the formulations may each involve many adjustable parameters. The performance of a formulation in the final application is the result of many optimised parameters during the development therefore this kind of research is very labour-intensive.
Nevertheless there is great potential to perform this work more rapidly, more precisely, more reproducibly and under more realistic process conditions by the use of automated workflow.Note de contenu : - High throughput formulation
