Simulation par ordinateurIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : As a result of progress in microprocessor technology and constantly increasing computing power, there is now considerable potential for improving the efficiency of control systems for coating lines, and especially for robot stations. But that complexy also has to increase. In fact, the opposite is the case. Note de contenu : - Only two robot controls instead of four
- Already successful in practical use
- Programming the controllers "onsite" or "offsite"
- Simulation replaces the building of prototypes
- Fig. 1 : A coating station for the interior application of the engine compartment and the boot. The hood openers are arranged overhead on a higher positioned rail. The advantage of this solution is that it makes the station much shorter than conventional layouts and improves flexibility. The robot and the hood openers can "overtake" each other

Sulfate de baryumIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Research and development teams have a vast array of fillers, pigments and dispersing and wetting additives to choose from when developing new coatings. The authors aimed to simplify this process by creating a novel nano-additive that can be used as a universal stabilising component. The resulting additive and process technology provides a way of reducing development time and undesirable side effects. Note de contenu : - Improve predictabitility to aid coating development
- Simplifying stabilisation
- Development of new additive
- Reduces milling time and other additives
- Stable, binder-free system for multiple applications
- Cut development time in half with novel additive

Colorants azoïquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : When considering yellow pigments for automotive OEM and refinishing paints, benzimidazolone azo pigments and possibly quinophthalone pigments come to mind as opaque organic yellow pigments. The introduction of water-based paint systems has, however, revealed the performance limits of these pigment groups. The important properties for using in automotive OEM paints are : weathering fastness and overcoating fastness in multicoat systems. Now P.Y. 213, a halogen-free azo pigment based on a quinoxalinedione coupling component could well provide a solution to these problems. Note de contenu : - Pigment properties profiles

Ondes électromagnétiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Car paintwork has to withstand a wide range of stresses and therefore at least four different coats are generally applied to vehicle bodies. Until now there has been no non-destructive method of measuring the thickness of these multi-layer coatings on metal or plastic, but terahertz technology will soon change that. Note de contenu : - Operation
- Comparing terahertz technology
- Other applications
- Fig. 1 : The terahertz pulse penetrates the plastic coating and is partially reflected at the material boundaries. The software calculates the thickness of each layer on the basis of the delay time of the reflections
- Fig. 2 : Terahertz technology will make quality assurance processes noticeably more efficient, in particular in the automotive industry
