An explicit endeavour has been made relating to the study of intumescent coatings. Their phenomenon, composition, mechanism of intumescence are reviewed, followed by a discussion of the use of thermal analysis to investigate the mechanism of decomposition of intumescent coating. A brief review of types of fire retardant coatings is discussed. Also requirements of building regulations, char properties of intumescent coatings, evaluation and Fire Test Standards are presented. Intumescent coating systems with various types of intumes cent coatings and finally applications with off-site advantages is given. |
