Résumé : |
Acrylic copolymers based on ethylmethacrylate (EMA), butyl acrylate (BA) / ethyl acrylate (EA) and acrylic acid (AA) were prepared. The monomer compositions were calculated by Fox equation. The acrylic copolymers were modified by incorporating mesogenic group, via grafting, to yield liquid crystalline acrylic copolymers. Incorporation of mesogenic group was confirmed by IR, 1H-NMR and polarizing photomicroscope. These liquid crystalline acrylic copolymers were characterised by DSC and TGA. Both the acrylic copolymers and liquid crystalline acrylic copolymers were studied for their coating applications. Influence of liquid crystallinity on the coating properties of acrylic copolymers was studied in detail. |
