Tannage végétalIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : This paper describes the use of analytical techniques to examine an 18th/19th century vegetable-tanned hebrew parchment manuscript which had been discovered during excavations in Tanta City, Egypt. The manuscript was assessed, moisture content was determined, its pH, amino acid content and shrinkage temperature were measure. The ink was analysized by X-ray diffraction and atomic absorption. The binding medium of the ink and tannin material of the manuscript studied were identified. Biological deterioration was also assessed. The solubility of the ink used on the manuscript was tested. The manuscript was surface cleaned, consolidated, humidified, flattened and lined, disinfection was also applied. The results of the analyses quantified the deterioration and helped in developing a conservation strategy. The conservation treatment improved the appearance and increased the strength of the manuscript. FiltrationIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : The environment is a factor of concern in our lives that forces society to search for an implement technologies that enable cleaner processes in industry. The leather industry is known to be a polluting activity that needs large amounts of water and at the same lime, produces a large flow of alkaline effluents rich in sulphide. The work in this study aims to minimize water and chemical consumption by recycing the liming bath used in goat skin unhairing.
Two systems were tested for recycing of the liming bath from a hair-burning process (centrifugation and ultrafiltration) but for recycling the liming bath from a hair-saving process the only system tested was ultrafiltration. These recycling systems provided a good reduction in COD with better results when ultrafiltration was applied.
The chemical reduction were 33 % of sodium sulphide. 40 % of anti-wrinkle and sodium sulphydrate and 25 % lime for the hair-burning liming process with recycling. The chemical reductions were 32 % and 25 % lime with an additional consumption of enzyme sodium sulpide, 25 % sodium sulphydrate and 25 % lime, with an aditional consumption of enzyme for the hair-saving liming process with recycling. A reduction in water used of 80 % and 50 % respectively in the hair-burning and hair-saving process was achieved. A brief economic analysis of the recycling systems used for the hair-burning process permitted us to conclude that both options are economically viable. The payback time in the recycling system using centrifugation is 3 years while for the recycling system with ultrafiltration the payback time is 4 years.En ligne : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1F7XdVDElJRImTIXYEYw7ZGvbMBsIb7U0/view?usp=drive [...] Format de la ressource électronique : Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=11593

SelsIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : This paper aims to evaluate the physical, chemical and biological processes associated with the deterioration of leather tanned with inorganic salts. The samples of leather were exposed during eight months to outdoor weathering, and then their properties were evaluated. The results indicate that biodegradation starts with dehydration, a partial scission of the protein chain of the collagen, detanning and a loss of oils due to volatilization and/or decomposition. The generation of an in-vitro tissue from bovine fibroblasts is carried out using a scatfold to generate a three-dimensional extra-cellular matrix (3D ECM). The development of a biopelt is by an in-vitro production at lab scale in a bioreactor with specific culturing conditions. New methodologies to stabilize the biomaterial generated were investigated. In particular, the biomaterial was stabilized by immersion in solutions of vegetable tannins and cross-linking agents in an aqueous-solvent medium.
