Coating is a complex subject if formulators want to formulate defects free and yet obtain the best stable performance coating. The most complex part of coating is the wetting and dispersing of stabilizing solid particles in the system. Thus, dispersion of solid in liquids involveds extensive colloid chemistry in order for us to understand how these particles can be wetted, dispersed and eventually stabilized. Stabilization of pigments is the most important factor in coating to ensure a well dispersed pigmented coating.
