Sol-gel, ProcédéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A series of abrasion-resistant coatings based on methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS), tetraethoxysilane (TEOS), and methacyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (MEMO) were synthesized via a sol–gel method and applied to polycarbonate (PC) substrate. Through a comparison with an uncoated PC substrate, hardness, adhesion, and abrasion resistance of coated PC substrates were investigated. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra of these coatings before and after being cured indicated that the crosslinked structure of Si–O–Si was formed via the hydrolysis–condensation reactions of alkoxy silane. The optical test results showed that coated PC substrates possessed higher transmittance and lower haze than uncoated PC substrates. The hardness and adhesion data demonstrated that PC substrates coated with the hybrid coatings (MTMS/TEOS/MEMO coatings) possessed the greatest hardness and optimal adhesion. After 500 wear cycles, the PC substrate with MTMS/TEOS/MEMO coatings showed some grooves and wear tracks without any spallation or delamination, and there was a decrease of only 1.0–1.3% in transmittance and an increase of only 5.68–7.44% in haze. Whereas uncoated PC substrate and substrates with MTMS and MTMS/TEOS (molar ratio is 1.5:1) coatings exhibited a decrease of 3.3, 3.9, and 2.4% in transmittance and an increase of 30.19, 17.42, and 12.35% in haze, respectively.
(Wikipedia)

SilanesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In this study, silane coupling agent KH560-FA containing furan groups was synthesized to modify the surface of graphene oxide, and maleimide group-capped waterborne polyurethane was synthesized at the same time. A self-healing material with a microcrosslinking network structure based on polymer/modified graphene oxide was synthesized by Diels–Alder (DA) reaction. The materials obtained can control the formation and fracture of DA chemical bonds under thermal stimulation and repair the damage macroscopically. With the addition of modified graphene oxide from 0 wt% to 0.4 wt%, the tensile strength of the material increased from 3.59 MPa to 15.27 MPa, the repair efficiency reached a maximum of 89.19%, the water contact angle increased from 61° to 77°, and the water absorption decreased from 10.52% to 3.40%. The addition of modified graphene oxide significantly improved the hydrophobicity and mechanical properties of the material. When the addition of KH560-FA-GO was 0.4 wt%, the corrosion resistance of the coating prepared by the emulsion was remarkably improved in deionized water, 5% sodium chloride solution, and 5% sulfuric acid solution. It showed the application potential of materials in the field of coatings. Structure chimiqueIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Superhydrophobic hybrid film coatings were prepared from the dispersions of siloxane-modified polyacrylate associated with organo-modified clay (OMC-20A) and hydrophobic-fumed silica (FS-H15) coated on glass and cement boards by a dipping process. The hydrophobicity, surface morphology, surface energy, and surface roughness of the obtained hybrid film coatings (HBFCs) were investigated. The results showed that the hydrophobicity of the obtained HBFCs was related to surface roughness and the roughness profile of the surface. HBFCs obtained using 10 phr OMC-20A with 35 phr FS-H15 in hybrid coatings and fabricated by four dipping provided high roughness surfaces (Rq) at 546.67 nm with a micro-nano-binary structure and a low surface energy at 2.35 mN/m leading to superhydrophobic surfaces on the coated glass and cement boards demonstrating 151.34° and 150.88° water contact angles, respectively. As a result, these HBFCs coated on cement board performed great water repellent and self-cleaning. Note de contenu : - Experimental : Materials

Morphological characterizations of the synthesized particles showed that shuttle shaped zinc is well embedded on the exfoliated nanographite particles without any agglomeration. The higher interfacial polarization of both the graphite and zinc particles contributes to the excellent electrical conductivity and hence refers it as an ideal microwave absorber in defense applications. The paint with 20% (w/v) loading of nanographite-zinc (1:1 ratio) particles is proficient in providing microwave absorption of − 18.06 dB at 8.19 GHz with a coating thickness of 1.43 mm. Revêtements organiquesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : New product development and major reformulation of high-durability exterior coatings are among the highest risk projects a coatings lab can undertake. This is due to the years-long exterior exposure time required to validate a new product's performance, in addition to the standard formulation and test cycle time of several months. Many attributes are associated with the assessment of a coating's weatherability, such as grain-crack resistance, adhesion and chalk. In the architecture semi-gloss to high-gloss space, an emphasis has rightly been placed on gloss retention as a distinguishing attribute between high performance and economy product classes.
