Surfactants -- BiodégradationIndex. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : The author report on a new generation of 'green' surfactants for use in emulsion polymers and polymer dispersions.
Newt yers (2007) will mark important anniversaries for a number of key events in the history of the idea of sustainability: it will be 20 years since the publication of the Brundtland report ('Our common future'); 15 years since the Earth Summit in Rio and 10 years since the Kyoto Protocol was signed - all events which have had a significant effect on global public opinion. Neither business nor individuals can afford to ignore environmental issues any longer. The sustainability trend is driven by society's changing values, with consumers demanding that industry acts more reponsability and governments around the world introducing increasingly strict legislation to ensure it does so. International paint and coatings manufacturers are among the companies that have to comply with stricter environmental regulations, while at the same time improving product performance and meeting the requirements of consumers. Unfortunately, the environmentally friendly solutions, which could help them achieve this, are often suspected of veing less effective in terms of performance and cost - a major concern when it comes to surfactants, as the reliability and performance of these substances is essential. However, Cognis' new generation of environmentally friendly surfactants firmly refutes this prejudice. The surfactant system Disponil AFX is an example of how an environmentally conscious approach can bring market success when it does not have an adverse effect on product performance. The product range recently received official recognition from the Federation of German Industries (BDI), in the shape of the organisation's Environment Award.Note de contenu : - Regulatory compliance - the key challenge for surfactants

Oleochemical polyols are spacial polyfunctional alcohols based on natural vegetable oils. They offer alternatives to higher hydrophilicity petrochemical-based polyols.
Because they are derivatives of vegetable triglyceride oils, they retain the advantages of classical oil paints and alkyd resins. But because of their low viscosity, they offer a base for solvent-free, full solids coating systems. As so-called reactive diluents, they are additionally able to replace solvents in coatings by forming part of the polymer film after curing instead of evaporating as solvent do.Note de contenu : - Building polyurethanes
