Mousse (chimie)
Mousses (matériaux)Index. décimale : 541.34 Solutions Résumé : It is difficult to go through a whole day without coming in contact with foaming materials. The soap and tooth paste that we use in the morning and before going to bed, the polyurethane foam seat cushion of the sofa or car seat, or the foamed polystyrene take away boxes that fill our food in the restaurants.
In the above cases, foams are desired to achieve the finishing or result that we need. However for paint manufacturers applicators, in order to ensure a smooth and even final paint film, foam will be one of the main tasks to overcome especially for those paints that are applied by brush and roller.
Thus additives like defoamers are needed to prevent the formation of bubbles when liquid paints are subjected to external mechanical disturbance during application and production.
Foam : In general terms, foam can be defined as dispersing of gas (normally air) in liquid. It can be generated during production of a coating like in grinding phase, mixing and filling or during application. It also can be produced when liquid paint is wetted on porous surface like wood substrate. As a paint formulator, foams that are generated during application and porous surface wetting process are the problem that he or she wanted to solve.Note de contenu : DESTABILIZE FOAM FACTOR : Gravity force / FOAM STABILIZING FACTORS : Marangoni effect - Static effect / CRITERIAS TO BE A DEFOAMER / COMPROMISE IN USING DEFOAMERS / DEFOAMER TESTING METHOD : a) for normal solvent based system - b) for water based emulsion paint system. Stabilisants (chimie)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Coating is a complex subject if formulators want to formulate defects free and yet obtain the best stable performance coating. The most complex part of coating is the wetting and dispersing of stabilizing solid particles in the system. Thus, dispersion of solid in liquids involveds extensive colloid chemistry in order for us to understand how these particles can be wetted, dispersed and eventually stabilized. Stabilization of pigments is the most important factor in coating to ensure a well dispersed pigmented coating.
Below are the definitions for wetting, dispersing as well as stabilization in relation to coating.Note de contenu : Wetting - Dispersing - Stabilization

- WAYS TO DO STABILIZATION : Pigments pre-treatment - Dispersing resins - Resins in the system - Dispersant as additives
- BASIC DISPERSANT CRITERIA : Compatibility - Low surface tension - Pigment affinity group, anchoring group
- DISPERSANT ADDITIVES AND THEIR HISTORY : Conventional wetting and dispersing agent - High molecular weight dispersants

Tension superficielleIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Most coating systems need good leveling and flow properties in order to have a nice appearance. A flat smooth surface, will also give better glossy appearance and is very eye catching. Controlling the leveling and flow of a coating is all about controlling the surface tension of the system. However, some incompatible ingredients inf the formulation will also affect the flow and leveling of the coating.
Before we discuss further about slip and leveling agents, it is important that we discuss and understand in detail on surface tension. Surface tension in volve in almost every way in paint technology, in dispersing, leveling, adhesion, atomization in spraying and etc.Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=7379
