This is the characteristic fingerprint of the object. This has given birth to various kinds of sensor/detectors working in specific band of spectrum. The phenomenon of vision lies on the contrast of object to immediate surrounding. No contrast no vision is formed. For camouflaging point of view, it needs to simulate the reflectance profile of objects with the immediate surrounding. The most common sensor available with the service are telescope, binoculars, night vision devices, IR photographic, film, IR cameras and thermal imagery systems etc. working in 800-1200nm and 3-5 µm wave length band. For matching the reflectance of the military objects/equipments/troops, they need coating or painting of pigment formulation to be applied directly on surface of equipment or in the form of textile covering systems which might simulate visual and IR reflectance properties. All the military objects i.e. vehicles, tanks or other artilleries and troops need to be camouflaged to hide from adversary. Presently, the army is equipped with various types of detecting sensors other than conventional binoculars and telescope working in visual band of electromagnetic regions only (350-750nm). Therefore, a vibrand need arises to study the reflectance properties of each part ofnature in entire range of electromagnetic radiation ranging i.e. from 350-1200nm. To protect the object against visual detection (400-750nm) and NIR (750-1200nm) region of electromagnetic spectrum, it needs to blend the object with surrounding in term of reflectance in these wave length bands. Langues : Anglais (eng) Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Recently hollow spheres of nanometer to micrometer dimensions called microspheres form a new and important class of shape fabricated materials. The most important advantage with microspheres is that its shell can be constructed from a variety of materials of valuable scientific interest and technological importance. These include magnetic, semiconducting, ceramic, metallic, biomolecular, polymeric and composite materials. As a result microspheres find wide application in chemistry, physics, biology, medicine and other science disciplines, as controlled release capsules (drugs, dyes, cosmetics and inks), artificial cells, catalysts, fillers, supports, abrasives, ball point pen tips, composites, thermal insulation, electrical circuit boards, chromatography, shock absorbing armour plate, gas or chemical storage and in electromagnetic (EM) wave absorbing coatings. Various physical properties were measured to assess the quality of finished leather after coating it with the polyurethane composition. Optical and scanning electron microscopy studies were undertaken to investigate the compatibility of polyurethane coating with leather.
