Résumé : |
Fiber-reinforced composites offer a number of attractive material properties, most prominently high stiffness and strength combined with low mass density. Therefore, they have been the materials of choice for space and military aircraft applications for a long time and are now conquering the conservative realm of commercial transportation. In the aerospace industry a cost overrun from 500E/kg reduced wight is accepted, whereas in the automobile industry only 54/Kg1. In this contexte to cost efficient production of fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) components for structural applications is a great demand of the aerospace, wind energy and especially automobile industries.
Composite parts are currently manufactured using manual and semi-automated processes. These are time and cost consuming and cause an inefficient use of cost intensive tool forms. Furthermore manual operations lead to a lack of reproducibility and to complex subsequent finishing steps.
While aerospace and wind energy industry demand large scale FRP components, the automotive industry requires highly integrated, mass produced parts. In both cases the production of textil reinforcement structures (preforms) causes up to 50 % of the overall costs. The combination of single step and multi-step preforming processes is an economically viable approach for the production of these preforms.
In the following, both single and multi-step preforming as well as the design of automated process chains will be introduced. |
