Résumé : |
• Part 2 of this review of can coatings discüsses issues such as the functional requirements for different types of can coatings, formulation, test procedures and HSE-related matters.
• Internal coatings for food applications in particular must satisfy a number of requirements in relation to impermeability and lack of both migration and reaction between coating components and food constituents.
• Constituents of the coatings that are discussed include pigments (in particular Ti02), resins, solvents and additives.
• Test procedures are considered in relation to the application properties of the coatings and their physical and chemical properties in the cured state.
• Regulatory controls on the composition and properties of can coatings are considered in some detail, with a listing and brief description of the main regulations (both European and North American) that are applicable.
