Résumé : |
Allophanate modified trimer polyisocyanates (AMTs) represent a new technology for the design of high solids, high performance polyurethane coatings. This technology can be generally applied to the preparation of polyisocyanates with lower viscosity than can be achieved through conventional adduct formation (e.g. trimerization, biuretization, etc.). Such polyisocyanates can be prepared from all commercially available diisocyanates : HDI, IPDI, and H12MDI. This paper reviews the performance of coatings crosslinked with the various AMTs alone and in blends. The key emphases of this paper are performance comparisons of coatings based on isocyanurates (trimers) and AMTs, and the advantages achieved by blending novel cycloaliphatic polyisocyanate resins with other polyisocyanates to reach an optimum level of coatings properties. |
