The synthesized products were characterized by TEM and XRD. Photocatalytic degrade to NPE-10, phenol and DBS in solar irradiating were studied, respectively. The TiO2 powder showed excellent photocatalytic property. It was different to degrade three substances. NPE-10 was degraded nearly 70% in 2 hours, phenol was degraded nearly 95% in 8 hours, DBS was degraded nearly 82% in 8 hours. The polymeric dispersants chosen were polyacrylic acid and polyacrylamide homo- and copolymers modified with hydroxyl and/or carboxylate groups. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used to assess the distribution of the titania pigment particles in the surface and bulk, respectively of the paint films, which was then compared to the gloss and surface roughness of these films. In the absence of dispersant, the pigment distribution in the paint film was not uniform and relatively large pigment aggregates appeared at the surface, resulting in a rough surface and low gloss value. All dispersants both decreased surface roughness and increased the gloss of the dry paint film, with the dispersant type considerably enhancing the pigment dispersion in the dry paint film, in agreement with results obtained in aqueous pigment suspensions. In the presence of polyacrylamide homopolymer, the paint gloss increased slightly and further increased with the hydroxyl-modified polyacrylamide copolymer. The paint gloss was highest in the presence of polyacrylic acid or carboxylate/hydroxyl-modified polyacrylamide. The phase composition, microhardness, and antiabrasion properties of the coating were investigated using x-ray diffraction (XRD), an energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS), a scanning electron microscope (SEM), a Vickers microhardness tester, and block-on-ring abrasive equipment. The abrasion mechanism of TiN-matrix coating under dry abrasion conditions was also discussed. The results indicate that the composition of the coating is main phases of TiN and TiN0.3, minor phases of Ti2O3, and TiO2. The TiN-matrix coating possesses high microhardness and relatively good toughness. Furthermore, the friction coefficient of the coating decreases with the increment of applied load. The interstratified distribution of titanium oxides can act as a solid lubricant during the wear test. The main abrasion mechanism of the TiN-matrix coating is adhesion wear. In addition, the coating with self-lubricating property can improve the antiwear property of the substrate significantly.
