Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Impression numérique -- Stabilité Tags : Impression numérique Résumé : As the quality, versatility and speed of digital printing systems has improved, they have moved from their specific niche markets to compete with conventional printing whenever short runs are required, and to create many new niche markets - all of which makes life very interesting for the machinery supplier, the final consumer and the inkmaker caught in the middle of a revolution. As a result, the corner vortex becomes smaller with increased isothermal temperature, namely, the so-called temperature-induced vortex reduction. In addition, the vortex grows with raising wall temperatures, whereas the vortex reduction is found under high inlet temperatures. Through the visualized flow patterns, it is significant to investigate the dramatic variations of vortex size in relation to fluid temperature, weighted viscosity and extension rate, as well as Weissenberg number and Trouton ratio. We obtain expressions for the melt curtain shape, coating thickness, contact length, contact pressure, drawing force, apparent contact angle, and contact convexity. Specially constructed examples enable practitioners to apply the results without advanced training in fluid mechanics. We identify a process indeterminacy that arises in curtain coating employing a parallel slit. We show that, with a rapidly converging extrusion slit, this indeterminacy vanishes. Thus, a unique solution for the contact length is always obtained. The extension to a viscoelastic fluid is also briefly considered. Three damage indices, related to temperature changes, humidity changes, and time of wetness, respectively, were introduced to quantify adverse effects of climate. The variation of these indices was investigated for a hot and humia climate (Miami, FL) and a hot and dry climate (Phoenix, AZ). In addition, the relative effects of solar radiation, surface wetting by rain and dew condensation, and variations in outdoor tempera ture and relative humidity on the three damage indices were investigated.
