The sol-gel process allowed the deposition of a covalently bound thin layer of polysiloxane networks on the wood surface that was resistant to water sorption and water leaching. The rate of weight loss resulting from surface erosion and the extent of surface color loss caused by photo-induced discoloration were decreased for coated specimens compared to uncoated specimens. Titre : Calcium tripolyphosphate : An anticorrosive pigment for paint Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : V. F. Vetere, Auteur ; Beatriz del Amo, Auteur ; R. Romagnoli, Auteur ; C. Deyà, Auteur Année de publication : 2001 Article en page(s) : p. 57-63 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Américain (ame) Tags : Matériau revêtement Peinture anticorrosion Protection corrosion Pigment minéral Calcium Polyphosphate Essai vieillissement accéléré Corrosion électrochimique Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The objective of this work was to evaluate the performance of calcium tripolyphosphate in anticorrosive paints. Its anticorrosive properties were studied in pigment suspensions and in solvent-borne paints with 10% and 30% of the pigment by volume and a pigment volume concentration/critical pigment volume concentration (PVC/ CPVC) equal to 0.8. The behavior of paints formulated with epoxy and alkyd resins was assessed by accelerated (salt spray cabinet and humidity chamber) and electrochemical tests (corrosion potential, ionic resistance, and polarization resistance). Calcium tripolyphosphate was proven to inhibit steel corrosion when incorporated in a paint film. Good protection was achieved employing only 10% by volume of the pigment, instead of 30%, as was suggested in the case of phosphates. The anticorrosion protection afforded by alkyd paints was impaired when the pigment content was increased. Epoxy paints seemed to be less sensitive to the pigment content. Treated steel panels coated with different paint systems were subjected to standardized (salt spray, humidity chamber, adhesion, and flexibility) and electrochemical (corrosion potential, EIS) tests. Electrochemical tests were performed by employing only panels coated with the wash primer to determine its protective effect. The binder employed in this research was prepared in the laboratory by emulsion polymerization of acrylic monomers. It was found that the tested formulation protected steel against corrosion by forming ferric tannate, which prevented oxide formation. After performing the salt spray tests, it was observed that no oxide spots developed on the scratch mark although some blisters were detected. The good stability of the binder in low pH media (pH: 2.0-2.5) and the binder/substrate interaction are decisive factors in the performance of this aqueous pretreatment system. However, the durability problems associated with joints of this type are well known, i.e., premature deterioration of protective coatings (metallic, organic) and accelerated metallic corrosion of the base steel by moisture retention in the joint, crevice corrosion, etc. The authors have been involved in researching lap-joint corrosion testing to know the behaviour of materials in these joints. The precoated steel sheet materials studied were divided into two groups according to their use in two well-defined industrial sectors: building (55% Al-Zn and hot-dip galvanised, painted and unpainted) and car manufacturing (electrogalvanised and galvanneal) Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=5572
