Titre : What is the leather smell ? Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Haiko Schulz, Auteur Année de publication : 2011 Article en page(s) : p. 40-41 Note générale : Bibliogr. Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Cuir -- Odeurs
OlfactométrieIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : One of leather's important characteristics is its smell. In contrast to synthetics the leather smell is a desirable feature and regarded as an attribute of authenticity by customers. Michaela Schroepfer and Haiko Schulz, FILK, Freiberg, Germany, and Michael Czerny and Peter Schieberle for the German Research Centre for Food Technology, Freising, carried out research into the smell of five leathers from different applications. Titre : What's adhesion Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : William C. Prentiss, Auteur Année de publication : 1988 Article en page(s) : p. 100-109 Langues : Américain (ame) Catégories : Adhésion Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : There are two purposes for testing the physical properties of finished leather. One is for quality assurance, that is, to be sure production leathers meet the standards established for them. The other is for diagnostic purposes, a problem is uncovered during routine QC testing or a new finish is being developed and performance needs improvement in one or more properties. The property we are discussing is adhesion, the role is diagnotic since we are addressing the problems, and the primary method of test is the Scotch tape method, although I will also discuss other observations which can be made to identify whether an adhesion problem does exist. For the Scotch tape method, there are several adhesion situations which I will address along with some guidelindes for corrective action. Titre : What a waste ! Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Amanda Michel, Auteur Année de publication : 2009 Article en page(s) : p. 34-35 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Cuirs et peaux -- Industrie -- Aspect de l'environnement

Recyclage (déchets, etc.)Index. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : All around the world we are being encouraged to minimise waste ; you may be familiar with the 3Rs - Reduce, recycle and reuse. And if we are to be a responsible industry we must do this ; this planet of ours only has limited resources and we should be mindfull of that for future generations. But what exactly is waste ? In the leather industry, most of us would think of things like effluent such as spent chrome liquor. Whilst effluent is a waste of high importance to our industry and in recent years technology has made huge inroads into reducing it, waste comes in many other guises, some being more obvious than others. In this article we will briefly explore some potential forms of waste in leather manufacture and how it can be reduced.
