Currently, skilled workers visually inspect each car body to detect and repair occurring paint defects. However, humans can neither detect nor judge the blemishes objectively and reliably over a longer period. Hence, this paper focuses on the development and validation of an algorithm for a surface inspection system, which improves the accuracy of detecting paint defects through an image processing system. Once they are detected, a reliable classifier is necessary to gain further information about the paint defects. The generated data can be utilized for improving the paint application process and for identifying the perpetrator of the paint defects once the defect classification is operational. As a consequence, the quality control circuit can be shortened, the surface quality of different paint formulae can be evaluated objectively, and actions can be taken in order to reduce the occurrences of certain defect types. This paper presents the physical setup of the visual inspection system and a detailed description of the algorithm for detecting the defects in the acquired images. Further research is essential to generate a classifier to differentiate the types of paint defects. Rayonnement ultravioletIndex. décimale : 677.4 Textiles artificiels Résumé : The raw material for spinning synthetic fibers originates from well-controlled processes in chemical plants. This is why contamination with foreign matter occurs very rarely. However, synthetic yarns like polyester can have different fiber qualities with different glossiness. Mixed-up yarns can lead to defects in the following processes along the production chain. Today, the visual inspection of these costly errors is still very time and labor-intensive. PT. Superbtex, Bandung/Indonesia, strives for a simpler and more efficent solution to overcome this issue. The cooperation between Superbtex and Loepfe Brothers Ltd., Wetzikon/Switzerland, has now revealed interesting results. Note de contenu : - Different fibers different glossiness

PiézomètresIndex. décimale : 620.11 Matériaux (propriétés, résistance) Résumé : The life duration of a structure depends on both the homogeneously distributed degradation of its mechanical properties during its life (ageing) and the presence of localised defects such as cracks or delaminations. Previous studies, described an ultrasonic health monitoring method enabling the recovery of both kinds of information. The method is based upon an integrated piezoelectric element into the plate-like composite structure which avoids coupling reproducibility problems. The element dimensions are determined in order to uncouple the frequency ranges of the thickness and radial vibration modes. The thickness mode is then exploited to monitor the homogeneous ageing of the structure through electrical impedance measurement. Whereas the radial vibration, are used to launch and detect Lamb waves, which are known to propagate over long distances. The guided waves also have the advantage to be multimodal, so the various propagating modes offer a specific sensitivity to the different kinds of defects that a structure can host. The previous papers dealt respectively to each of the two possible monitoring modes of the system. The present work focuses more particularly on the specific problems related to the simultaneous implementation of both aspects.
Furthermore, the influence of the material properties upon the limitations of each kind of monitoring will be discussed in relation with the characteristics of the waves that the structure can propagate.Permalink : https://e-campus.itech.fr/pmb/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=10274
