Produits chimiques -- ToxicologieIndex. décimale : 675 Technologie du cuir et de la fourrure Résumé : ILM has previously covered "forever chemicals" in the November/December 2021 print/digital issue. In that magazine, the article warned that forever chemicals were being pressurised from ail parts of the globe and their inevitable end was real.
That end has arrived faster than mort people predicted. Per- and polyfluorinated allcyl substances (PFAS), also known as "forever chemicals", are a group of more than 9,000 highly persistent synthetic chemicals. PFAS contain alkyl groups in which hydrogen atoms are replaced by fluorine. Industrial application and use of PFAS in consumer products commenced in the 1940s. PFAS do not easily degrade in the environment due to the highly stable carbon-fluorine bond. This strong bond is responsible for the persistent nature of PFAS that enables these chemicals to build up within the environment and organisms.Note de contenu : - California

Per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substancees (PFAS are a class of over 10 000 different chemicals. Some of these substances have outstanding properties. For example, they are extremely chemical resistant, grease repellent, water repellent or flame resistant. Note de contenu : - Fig. 1 : POF can be used in 3 types of application

Surfactants fluorésIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A new class of more environmentally-friendly fluorosurfactants based on C2 perfluoroalkyl chains has been developed. The branched short-chain structure yields a low static surface tension and exceptional dynamic properties. In waterborne coatings wetting and leveling properties are improved whereas cratering defects and foam generation are reduced effectively. Additionally, a synergetic effect with C6 based fluorosurfactant is presented. Note de contenu : - An introduction to fluorosurfactants

Risques pour la santéIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a class consisting of thousands of chemicals that have been used in a variety of products, most notably fire suppression systems. Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) have been the most extensively produced and studied of these chemicals. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), there is some evidence that exposure to PFAS can lead to adverse health outcomes in humans.
