SilanesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : This paper reports on a novel self-matte or bulk-matte waterborne polyurethane coating composite with inherently extremely low gloss. The coating composite was comprised of a siloxane-containing waterborne polyurethane (SPU) resin and a crosslinked waterborne polyurethane (CPU) resin. The CPU resin was mainly responsible for fabricating the micro-rough surface of the film, which was achieved by a crosslinking reaction between the waterborne polyurethane and bisphenol A-type epoxy E-44 resin. The SPU resin was used to improve the comprehensive properties of the film, which was ascribed to the addition of silane coupling agent KH792. Compared with traditional matte coatings, this coating composite made it possible to avoid high loadings of matting agent and to arrive at highly flexible low-gloss finishes. Gloss levels of as low as a few tenths of a percent, even at high incidence angles, have been achieved with zero loading of extraneous dulling agent. The chemical structures of the SPU and CPU resins were characterized by FTIR-ATR and NMR spectra. The micro-rough topographies and surface rough degrees of the SPU, CPU and their 50%/50% composite films were measured by SEM and MSP, respectively. The particle sizes and particle morphologies of the SPU and CPU resins were imaged by TEM. Finally, the comprehensive properties of the SPU, CPU and their 50%/50% composite resins were evaluated, including the water contact angle, film transparency, tensile strength and storage stability.

ThermocinétiqueIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : The low surface activity of graphene oxide (GO) stemming from its large conjugated electronic structure can easily affect the dispersion behavior of GO-based polymer matrices. This significantly undermines the properties of the resulting composite materials. Therefore, in order to increase the GO surface activity for use in polymer-based composites, GO was modified using silane coupling agent which was then doped into polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) polymer to prepare novel paints by sol–gel reaction strategy. The subsequent novel composite coatings based on PDMS/modified GO (mGO) were finally cured with tetraethoxysilane as the hardening agent in the presence of dibutyltin dilaurate catalyst. The effect of doping mGO into PDMS polymer was systematically studied using infrared spectroscopy, micro-Raman spectroscopy, TEM, SEM, XRD, TGA, mechanical test, thermal conductivity test, and the erosion resistance test. It was concluded that the phase compatibility between GO and PDMS was enhanced due to the new interconnecting chemical bonds brought about by the mGO in the composite. Traîtements de surfaceIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Fe2O3 nanoparticle was modified with 3-amino propyl trimethoxy silane (APTMS) to enhance its compatibility with the polyurethane coating matrix. The surface chemistry of the Fe2O3 nanoparticles was evaluated by thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) was utilized to investigate the electrochemical behavior of the steel specimens dipped in the 3.5% NaCl solutions without and with modified and unmodified Fe2O3 nanoparticles extracts. The morphology of the surface of steel samples was investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM). Also, the polyurethane nanocomposites were prepared by addition of 2 wt% unmodified and modified nanoparticles. The effects of nanoparticles on the anticorrosion properties of the polyurethane coating were investigated with salt spray and pull-off adhesion tests. Results obtained from FTIR and TGA analyses revealed that about 5% APTMS grafted on the surface of Fe2O3 nanoparticles through physical/chemical bondings. Results obtained from EIS and SEM analyses depicted that the unmodified Fe2O3 nanoparticles showed better corrosion inhibitive performance in the extract form than other samples. However, the surface-modified Fe2O3 nanoparticles enhanced the corrosion protection properties of the polyurethane coating much greater than the unmodified Fe2O3 nanoparticles by enhancing the coating barrier performance. SilanesIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A novel bilayer coating was developed over flat steel surface using a simple solution dipping method. Zinc oxide nanostructure (ZnO-NS) on the surfaces of flat steel was grown by chemical treatment with zinc nitrate hexahydrate [Zn(NO3)·6H2O] and hexamethylenetetramine (HMTA, C6H12N4) in aqueous solution, followed by a thin-layer deposition of amine-terminated poly-dimethylsiloxane (PDMS-NH2). We noticed surface passivation, surface hydrophobicity, and anti-corrosion properties by this robust bilayer concept where both chemical and physical effects were present. The surface properties were measured by contact angle and scanning electron microscope. This nanostructured grown mild steel, i.e., cold-rolled closed annealed steel, was compared with nanostructure grown over zinc-coated steel, i.e., galvannealed and galvanized iron. Different flat-coated specimens were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The formation of ZnO-NS on steel substrate was confirmed by XRD analysis. The corrosion behavior of the different specimens was also studied through DC polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. An excellent intact bilayer coating was proposed in the interest of structural and automotive applications.

Traîtements de surfaceIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : In order to improve the dispersion of nanosilica and the mechanical properties of UV-curable coating, nanosilica was modified with acrylsilane-containing tertiary amine structure, which was synthesized by the Michael addition reaction between 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane and tripropylene glycol diacrylate. The prepared acrylsilane was characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and FTIR. The modified nanosilica was characterized by FTIR, TGA, and SEM. The TGA analysis showed that the grafting percentage of acrylsilane based on nanosilica was 72.4 wt%. The SEM results showed that the agglomeration of nanosilica was reduced and the dispersion was improved due to the acrylsilane modification. The viscosities of UV-curable coatings with modified nanosilica were determined and it was found that the viscosities of the coatings decreased in comparison with the viscosities of coatings with unmodified nanosilica. The photo-DSC results indicated that both nanosilica and modified nanosilica also decreased the UV-curing speed and final percentage conversion, while the conversion of the coatings containing modified nanosilica was faster than that with unmodified nanosilica owing to the tertiary amine structure and acrylate structure on the surface of the modified nanosilica.
