TachesIndex. décimale : 668.1 Agents tensioactifs : savons, détergents Résumé : Water with iron content forms yellowish discolourations on textiles, while brown-coloured deposits of iron(111) hydroxide oc-IN cur on surfaces, such as appear in bottle cleaning and in industrial cleaning (CIP), as well as in toilet bowls in the domestic setting. Rust spots on textiles arise from bloodspots by decomposition of iron-containing haemoglobin.
Sodium glucoheptonate is not a chelant agent but a sequestrant, and is also a very effective crystal growth and agglomeration inhibitor for metal hydroxides. From the acid up to the strong alkaline range, easily water-soluble oligomers of multivalent metal hydroxides will be formed. This applies to the removal of rust, because oligomeric iron hydroxide [Fe(0H)3]n is sequestrated by sodium glucoheptonate, which is not deposited. Sodium glucoheptonate also applies to other metal hydroxides (e.g., hydroxi¬des of Al, Cu, Mn and Mg). The precipitates that occur with these metals, as a result of hydroxide formation in alkaline cleaning processes, reduce the effectiveness of cleaning by forming spots or re-depositions of released metal hydroxides and lead to turbidities in liquid detergents with high pH-values during product storage.Note de contenu : - Rust and rust spots

Revêtement métalliqueIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : A highly active Mg alloy, WE43, was electrophoretically coated by ZnO nanoparticles followed by heat treatment with the aim of decreasing its initial corrosion resistance for possible applications as biodegradable body implants. The investigation of the corrosion behavior of the coated WE43 surface was performed by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in a phosphate-buffered saline solution (PBS). It was found that the highest corrosion protection resistance was achieved when the coating was formed at a cell voltage of 3 V during a 210 min deposition time. The corrosion protection efficiency of this coating was excellent, above 99.9% during a 6 h of immersion in PBS. The coating was found to be polycrystalline with a preferential growth direction along the c-axis, and the outer layer was composed of complex compounds containing oxides, carbonates, and hydroxides of Zn and Mg. The deposited ZnO nanoparticles were observed to be fused to an integral coating by heat treatment and thus provided excellent physical barrier against transport of corrosion species. Revêtements -- DétériorationIndex. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Several advanced coatings tests are discussed. Highly sophisticated measurement equipment can now offer detailed insights into the structure and behaviour of paints of coatings. New test procedures also provide more accurate assessments of long-term coating performance by simulating field conditions and using sensitive equipment to delect the first stages of degradation. Primaire (revêtement)Index. décimale : 667.9 Revêtements et enduits Résumé : Industrial Primer is a heavy-duty primer that offers good protection for steel in normal industrial environments. Primers serve as the foundation for the chosen coating system, and in the case of metals deliver corrosion protection for the asset. They help the final coating adhere to the surface, increase paint durability and can hide or fill in some surface defects.
Primers are pigmented coatings that are applied to new or old surfaces, prior to the application of undercoats or topcoats. The main function of primers is to achieve adequate adhesion to the substrate and to provide intercoat adhesion for subsequent coats.Note de contenu : - Salient features of primers
