Tannage Résumé : A combination of inhibitors, namely a mixture of 1.0mmol of 3(2)-t-butyl-4-hydroxyanisole, 0.01 mmol of ascorbic acid, and 0.001 mmol of collagen peptide exhibiting complete inhibition of C6-+ formation on a laboratory-scale, was applied to produce chrome-tanned upper leather without formation of Cr6+ in the actual manufacturing line of a tanner. In this study, the following two methods were used for application of the combined inhibitor ; spraying with the combined inhibitor solution before finishing, using twice the volume of the dry leather weight after fat-liquoring ; and coating with base-coat containing the combined inhibitor before top coating in the finishing process, using twice the volume of the dry leather weight. Each inhibitor-treated leather contained chemical components similar to those of typical leather produced without the combined inhibitor, and exhibited perfect inhibition of Cr6+ formation, even if heat-aged. ln addition, the physical strength of the inhibitor-treated leathers was higher than that of leather produced usually without inhibitor. In particular, the surface strength (bail burst) of the treated leathers was twice that of the untreated leather. These results indicate that this combination of inhibitors could be effectively applied to industrially produce Cr-tanned leather not only without C6+ formation but also with an improved physical strength.

Teinture -- Fibres textiles synthétiquesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Polyester fabrics are usually difficult to dye deeply due to their high refractive indexes. In this study, poly(methyl methacrylate)/polysiloxane core-shell latex was used as a deepening agent in the colour-deepening finishing of dyed polyester fabrics by lowering the refraction index and enhancing the diffuse reflection via the rough surface. Poly(methyl methacrylate)/polysiloxane core-shell latex has a better shade-deepening effect than polysiloxane latex on dyed polyester fabrics. The mass ratio of core/shell monomer and the finishing conditions of the polyester fabrics had a large influence on shade deepening. The optimum finishing conditions were obtained for a mass ratio of core/shell monomer of 1:2, a deepening agent concentration of 10 wt%, a pick-up of 80%, and a curing temperature of 180°C. After a deepening finishing, the dyed polyester fabrics showed a small colour difference and the colour fastness barely decreased. Teinture -- Fibres textiles synthétiquesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : In this study, a novel system utilising ozone in jet dyeing machines is introduced, and the results of ozone-clearing treatments of disperse dyed polyester on the prototype modified machine are reported. A Venturi injector was mounted on the liquor circulation pipe of the jet dyeing machine to feed ozone gas into the machine. Ozone was generated via an ozone generator by feeding conditioned air into the generator. The ozone gas entering the pipe partly dissolved in the treatment liquor; the dissolved portion and the gaseous ozone interacted via the fabric in the pipe, especially in the nozzle and also at the bottom of the autoclave (machine body). Disperse dyed polyester fabrics of textile-company mass production were ozone cleared in this prototype. Ozone clearing was achieved in cold water (room temperature), and no other chemicals were used. The colour of the samples, wet fastness properties, and the chemical oxygen demand of the effluent were investigated, and costs were compared with those of conventional reduction clearing of ozone. Results were outstanding: an 83% cost reduction, 67% timesaving, and an 88% COD reduction were achieved. Note de contenu : - Colour differences of the dyed fabrics
