The suitability of the inks for printing polyester fabric was evaluated via measurement of surface tension, conductivity, viscosity, pH and particle size distribution. Inks prepared by the proposed method fulfill most requirements for an ink-jet ink depending on the colorant structure, the dispersing agent and the alcohol used. The inks were applied to polyester fabric by both printing and dyeing and the fastness of the ensuing coloured samples was assessed. The fastness properties of the dyed and printed polyester samples were found to be very good to excellent and generally meet accepted customer requirements. Oil-in-water microemulsions containing the same colorants were also prepared. Their properties, which are crucial to the suitability for ink-jet ink, were compared with those of the conventionally prepared inks and were found to be improved, with the exception of conductivity, while surface tension remained within acceptable values. Teinture -- Fibres textiles synthétiquesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Polyester fabric (filament by filament) was pretreated in a microwave oven in the presence of solvents and subsequently dyed with commercial disperse dyes [Dispersol Red C-B (CI Disperse Red 91) and Dispersol Blue B-G (CI Disperse Blue 26)] at different temperatures and for different durations of time. It was observed that the solvent interaction with the polyester could be enhanced by using microwave heating. Solvent molecules interact rapidly, not only with the surface of the fibre but also with the interior parts. Scanning electron microscope results showed that structural modifications take place, which produce surface roughness and voids. This enhances the dye uptake by threefold in comparison to conventional methods. Note de contenu : - EXPERIMENTAL : Materials, chemicals and dyes - Methods

Cotton fabrics were pretreated with 2,3-epoxypropyltrimethylammonuium chloride and cationic charges were produced on the fabric surfaces. For the dyeing of cotton fabric, reactive and acid dyes were used. Oppositely charged anionic reactive/acid dyes and cationic poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) were alternately deposited on the surface of cationised cotton fabrics. Ten multilayer films of dye/poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) were deposited on the cotton fabric surfaces using a padder. The build-up of the multilayer films and the level of colour strength (K/S) achieved are discussed. Samples of cotton fabrics were also dyed with the same dyes, but using the exhaust method, and both types of dyed samples were compared. The washing, rubbing and light fastness properties were evaluated for the dyed fabrics. Four poly(ethylene terephthalate) yarns for seat-belt webbing were prepared with different formulations and under different spinning conditions. Instrumental characterisation of the internal morphologies and physical properties confirmed that the structural characteristics are influenced by the draw ratio, heat-setting temperature and copolymer added, and that there are close correlations between the supramolecular structure and the physical and dyeing properties. In particular, the draw ratio was the most dominating factor, influencing both the mechanical properties and the dyeability. Teinture -- Fibres textiles synthétiquesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : The thermal and photostability of novel anthrapyrimidine-containing colorants obtained by the condensation of various substituted aromatic amines with 6-bromo-7H-benzo[e]perimidin-7-one are described. The colorants were characterised by proton nuclear magnetic resonance, elemental analysis and mass spectra. Thermogravimetric analysis showed that these colorants are thermally stable up to 250 °C. The UV–visible absorption spectra of the colorants were studied in solvents of differing polarity; the colorants exhibited slight positive solvatochromism. The photostability studies in dimethyl sulphoxide solvent were recorded by monitoring photodegradation of the colorants spectrophotometrically using a standard calibration curve. All the colorants exhibited excellent photostability. The light fastness study of two colorants in polypropylene showcases their ability as useful colorants for plastics. Logique floue
Teinture -- Fibres textilesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : The fuzzy logic-based approach was applied in studying the influence of a different textile surface structure on colour appearance and similarity. The fuzzy-based approach has been chosen because fuzzy logic provides the computerising of human reasoning. For the analyses, 100% cotton samples with certain characteristics were chosen. First, the computer match prediction was performed to determine the concentrations of dyestuff to be used in the experimental work. A yellow-shaded direct dyestuff suitable for cotton dyeing was used. In the next step, the fuzzy logic system was created based on terms that would define the surface characteristics of the samples. The most important part was a proper definition of the rules and linguistic variables that use words for assigning the values of properties and that influence the experience of an observer (gloss, smoothness, roughness, etc.) and connect input space with output space. Finally, the performances of both systems were compared and analysed. In this work, the approach was based solely on the surface–structural characteristics of textile samples. The main aim was to examine the approach using the fuzzy logic-based technique in order to provide the method that would include surface parameters of textile samples that are of importance in applying colour to different structured textile surfaces. It was confirmed that the fuzzy logic reasoning would have its application in the control of the influence of the surface structure of coloured textiles, especially for lighter shades where the influence of structure parameters on the colour experience of an observer is more emphasised. Spectres d'absorptionIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : In this study, a convenient method for the synthesis of thirteen novel disazo dyes containing 25,26,27-tribenzoyloxy-28-hydroxycalix[4]arene have been described. 5,11,17,23-Tetra-tert-butyl-25,26,27,28-tetrahydroxycalix[4]arene, 25,26,27,28-tetrahydroxycalix[4]arene and 25,26,27-tribenzoyloxy-28-hydroxycalix[4]arene were synthesised based on previously published literature. 2-Arylhdrazone-3-ketiminobutyronitriles were synthesised and reacted with hydrazine hydrate to afford the corresponding 5-amino-4-arylazo-3-methyl-1H-pyrazoles. Thirteen novel hetaryldisazocalix[4]arene derivatives were achieved by diazotisation of 5-amino-4-arylazo-3-methyl-1H-pyrazoles using nitrosylsulphuric acid, coupled with 25,26,27-tribenzoyloxy-28-hydroxycalix[4]arene. The obtained hetaryldisazocalix[4]arene dyes were characterised based on Fourier Transform–infrared, proton nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectroscopic techniques, as well as elemental analysis. The solvatochromic behaviour of these dyes in various solvents was examined. Acid-base effects on the visible absorption maxima of the dyes were also reported. ThermochromieIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Leuco dye-based thermochromic inks reversibly change from the coloured to the discoloured state in a defined, comparatively wide temperature region. Inside this region, the colour of a sample depends on the temperature and thermal history, which is known as the hysteresis effect. The colour of such a sample as a function of temperature has the shape of a hysteresis loop. Commercially available thermochromic inks have different loops, narrow or broad, and their shapes range from approximately symmetric to highly asymmetric. These properties are also important in mixtures of inks. The hysteresis loop of a mixture reveals its binary nature if the individual pure inks have well-separated hysteresis. When inks with close-separated loops, i.e. with similar activation temperatures, are mixed together, the loop of the mixture fuses together into an apparently single loop. Our research shows that some of their dynamic colour properties could be predicted in advance. However, optic and colorimetric properties of mixtures are not additive. Teinture -- Fibres textilesIndex. décimale : 667.3 Teinture et impression des tissus Résumé : Weave structure and fabric density has an influence on dye penetration. The uniformity of dyeing, expressed as the uniformity of fibre coloration, of Tencel woven fabrics comprised of different weave structures, was assessed. The fabrics were dyed by exhaust and continuous dyeing methods using selected reactive dyes. Cross-sectional images were captured and then given a rating 1–5 with respect to the depth of the fibre filaments of the yarn of the woven fabric. The images were assessed both subjectively and objectively. The uniformity of fibre coloration was expressed in terms of the standard deviation, mean value and histogram analysis such as dispersion and bandwidth. Objective assessment of uniformity of fibre coloration is a more accurate and quicker method than visual assessment and can be used to assess the uniformity of fibre coloration of woven and knitted fabrics dyed by any class of dyes. Improvement of the uniformity of fibre coloration of Tencel fabrics of various weave structures by causticisation of the fabrics and by modification to the padding process was investigated.

When anion concentrations were low (0.001 m), the inhibition effect on the photocatalytic decolorisation of CI Methyl Orange 13025 caused by these anions was ranked as inline image. The presence of both inline image and inline image baffled the breakage of the benzene ring in the chemical structure of CI Methyl Orange 13025, while the presence of inline image was of benefit to the degradation of the benzene ring. Adsorption experiments indicated that inorganic anions affected the decolorisation of CI Methyl Orange 13025 by competitive adsorption onto the surface of the photocatalyst.

These intermediates were used in subsequent reactions with 2-cyanomethylbenzothiazole, 2-cyanomethylbenzoimidazole and 1-methyl-2-cyanomethylbenzoimidazole to synthesise sulphonated coumarin derivatives. The absorption and steady-state fluorescence characteristics of the prepared coumarins were studied in ethanol and in water.
